Job description

Our mission is to establish a dynamic non-profit organization that enriches the quality of life in Secwépemcúl̓ecw. Le7 te Melámen Health Society (LtMHS) is passionately committed to enhancing the well-being of the Secwépemc Nation and its 16 communities through a culturally focused approach, ensuring the safety and well-being of Indigenous families.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Le7 te Melámen Health Society is seeking an Event Coordinator for a 1-year contract term to lead the planning and coordination of events from concept through to completion. This role will support events that bring people together and create meaningful opportunities for connection across communities and partners, while ensuring planning and delivery reflects Secwépemc culture and traditions.

The ideal candidate is highly organized and comfortable managing the many moving pieces that come with event delivery. This includes timelines, venues, budgets, vendors, speakers, registration, promotion, on-site logistics and post-event reporting. Success in this role will require strong follow-through, clear communication and the ability to create a smooth and welcoming experience for all LtMHS events.

AS THE EVENT COORDINATOR, YOU WILL:

  • Plan and coordinate events from concept through to completion, including timelines, venues, logistics and day-of requirements.
  • Ensure event planning and delivery reflects Secwépemc culture, traditions and community expectations.
  • Develop and maintain event work plans to ensure key tasks, deadlines and responsibilities are clearly tracked.
  • Create and manage event budgets, calculate billing amounts, track expenses and ensure costs remain within approved limits.
  • Coordinate with vendors, speakers, workshop facilitators and service providers to confirm event requirements and delivery details.
  • Promote events through social media and other communication channels to support awareness and attendance.
  • Oversee registration and attendee coordination, including invitations, attendance tracking and check-in processes.
  • Lead on-site event coordination by managing logistics, troubleshooting issues and supporting a smooth attendee experience.
  • Prepare event materials, supplies, signage, schedules and other resources required for successful delivery.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations and prepare summary reports with key outcomes, feedback and follow-up items.
  • Support additional event coordination activities as organizational needs evolve.

Requirements

  • Certificate in Event Management, Hospitality Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in event planning, event coordination, hospitality, community programming, or a related coordination role.
  • Strong familiarity with Secwépemc culture, traditions, and community protocols.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate logistics, track details, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with attendees, vendors, speakers, facilitators, community members, and internal teams.
  • Experience coordinating event logistics, including venues, timelines, registration, travel, vendors, materials, and on-site requirements.
  • Experience creating or tracking event budgets, billing amounts, expenses, or related financial details.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience using social media or digital communication tools to send invitations, promote events, and support attendance.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and clean driver's abstract.
  • Successful completion of a criminal record check.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Schedule flexibility, including evenings and weekend meetings.
  • Frequent travel within the region and to provincial meetings.

Benefits

  • Contract Term: 1-year contract, with the possibility for extension contingent on funding.
  • Compensation: $28.00 – $34.00/hour, based on skill set and experience.
  • Extended Health, Dental, Life insurance, and long-term disability benefits.
  • Paid vacation, personal leave, sick days, and spiritual leave.
  • Employee Assistance Program.

Applications will be accepted until June 5, 2026, with interviews expected to commence the week of June 22, 2026.

In accordance with the LtMHS Human Resource Policy Handbook, the first priority will be to hire qualified persons of Secwépemc ancestry. Pursuant to section 41 of the BC Human Rights Code, preference may be given to applicants of Indigenous ancestry.
