Tenure: Term (18 months).

Role Overview Corporate Governance Advisor (CGA) supports the Corporate Secretariat by providing high‑level executive and board meeting support, governance initiatives, and coordination of senior executive offices. The CGA will advise and represent matters related to NRC governance, engage with senior executives and their offices, and facilitate a wide range of governance meetings.
Responsibilities
Deliver executive and board meetings and governance‑related initiatives for NRC’s President, senior executives, Council, and Procurement Oversight Board.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior executives and their offices.
Provide proactive and professional delivery of services to earn confidence and trust for governance matters.
Support governance meetings across committees (Council, Procurement Oversight Board, Senior Executive Committee, etc.) covering strategic direction, policy, research excellence, stakeholder relations, resource management, procurement oversight.
Deliver secretariat services to boards of directors and senior executive level committees, including agenda development, preparation of meeting materials, documentation, and dissemination of meeting results.
Prepare and support independent advice and briefing materials for senior executives.
Assist in corporate level planning, business and policy development, strategy, governance, and reporting.
Qualifications – Education
University degree in a relevant field (science, engineering, business, economics, or administration).
Training in public administration, ethics, or business administration is an asset.
Qualifications – Experience
Recent experience (within last 2 years) delivering secretariat services to boards or senior executive committees.
Experience providing or supporting independent advice and briefing materials for senior executives.
Experience in corporate‑level planning, business and/or policy development, strategy, governance, and reporting in a government or business environment.
Experience navigating direction from multiple clients to achieve desired results.
Experience serving internal and external clients.
Required Competencies
Knowledge of federal government priorities and NRC’s role.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to convene and support decision‑maker groups neutrally and enablingly.
Demonstrated ability to manage and execute assignments and projects under tight deadlines.
Ability to build, maintain, and strengthen partnerships.
Knowledge of governance theory and ability to apply it in an executive setting, ideally in public sector.

Secret Clearance: thorough security clearance process over 10 years; applicant must have lived in Canada for a sufficient period.

Compensation & Benefits Salary: $83,985 – $116,641 (RCO‑2 level).
A junior to mid‑career level position.
Bilingualism Bonus: $800 per year.
