The Executive Director, Customer and Commercial Development plays a pivotal role in shaping Toronto Pearson’s future as a leading global hub by driving commercial innovation and delivering exceptional customer and airline experiences. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this enterprise leader is accountable for advancing the GTAA’s financial sustainability through diversified non-aeronautical revenue streams while ensuring that commercial strategies are deeply aligned with passenger experience and airline partnership objectives.
Responsibilities This position sets the strategic direction for GTAA’s commercial portfolio, spanning concessions, partnerships, real estate, ground transportation, customer experience, and airline and government agency relations. They will champion initiatives that enhance connectivity, optimize asset utilization, deliver to financial targets and elevate service standards. By fostering collaborative relationships with airlines, government agencies, industry stakeholders, and commercial partners, the Executive Director ensures Toronto Pearson remains competitive, customer‑centric, and resilient in a rapidly evolving aviation landscape.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will bring a strong academic foundation and experience within an airport or airline environment. With 10+ years of senior commercial leadership experience, the individual will have a proven track record of driving growth of large, diversified commercial portfolios such as concessions, partnerships, sponsorships, and other customer‑facing revenue streams. They will possess deep expertise in commercial and partnership agreements, contract negotiation, and performance management, supported by strong commercial and financial acumen and comfort working with data and analytics to inform decision‑making. The successful candidate is an accomplished people leader, capable of leading direct teams while influencing across complex, cross‑enterprise environments, and is adept at developing and presenting enterprise‑level commercial strategies to executive leadership and Boards. Strategic, creative, and resourceful, they are comfortable driving change, challenging the status quo, and advancing transformational agendas within large organisations.
