As a Senior Legal Counsel – Canada, you will serve as a trusted legal advisor across a broad range of employment, commercial, and compliance matters. You’ll be the primary legal resource for Canadian operations while also supporting cross‑border work involving U.S. and international teams. Reporting to the Global General Counsel, you’ll partner closely with leaders across operations, sales, HR, and senior leadership to deliver legal guidance that is clear, pragmatic, and aligned to business needs. Employment Law
Advise on a full range of Canadian employment law matters including hiring, termination, severance, immigration, restrictive covenants, human rights, accommodation, workplace investigations, and pay equity. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments across Canadian jurisdictions and advise the business on emerging obligations. Partner closely with Human Resources to build compliance structures and respond to claims. Support and coordinate with outside counsel on litigated matters. Contract Law & Commercial Matters
Review and negotiate client master service agreements, staffing agreements, statements of work, non‑disclosure agreements, and vendor contracts with assistance of AI tools. Provide advice on risk allocation, indemnification, limitation of liability, and other key commercial terms. Regulatory Compliance
Provide legal guidance on temporary foreign worker programs, immigration‑adjacent staffing issues, and cross‑border worker placements, coordinating with outside counsel as necessary. Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining company policies and standard operating procedures. Stay informed of regulatory changes and provide guidance regarding same. Cross‑Border & International Matters
Support the General Counsel in providing legal support for growing international operations, utilizing local jurisdiction counsel and consultants when necessary. General Legal Support
Provide timely, practical legal guidance to internal stakeholders. Assist in managing and mitigating legal risk across the business. Contribute to legal department process improvements, template development, and knowledge management. Who You Are
You hold an LL.B. or J.D. from an accredited Canadian law school. You are a licensed lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. You bring 3+ years of post‑qualification experience in employment, immigration, or related areas of law, gained in private practice or an in‑house environment. You have a strong working knowledge of Canadian employment standards, human rights, and workplace legislation. You are a pragmatic, solution‑oriented legal advisor who can translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance for business leaders. You are comfortable advising senior leaders and building credibility across functions. You manage competing priorities effectively and deliver advice that is timely, concise, and practical. You are collaborative and approachable – focused on enabling the business, not just enforcing compliance. You are self‑directed and comfortable operating with autonomy in a lean, fast‑moving environment. You bring experience in the staffing or professional services industry (an asset). You have experience with immigration law and cross‑border matters (an asset). You are bilingual in English and French (an asset). The salary range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $145,000 - $175,000. Our benefits offering includes medical, dental, vision, and retirement benefits.
