Job description
About The Opportunity Millennium EMS Solutions (MEMS) is seeking a nationally focused, visionary leader to serve as our Director, Brownfield Assessment & Development (BAD). This is a senior, enterprise‑level role accountable for national strategy, market expansion, technical excellence, risk‑based decision‑making, and service integration under a regional framework—while upholding our One‑Company approach. The Director will grow MEMS’ Brownfield practice across Canada and ensure credible, defensible, and delivery‑focused outcomes that advance community redevelopment—including partnerships with First Nations clients and organizations.

Please note this position can be based out of any of our Western Canada office locations (Fort St. John, Calgary, Sherwood Park, Grande Prairie, or Saskatoon).

What You’ll Lead

National Strategy within a Regional Framework (One‑Company)

Develop and execute a national BAD strategy that operates through a regional management structure and aligns to MEMS’ corporate plan and growth priorities.

Standardize service positioning and delivery across regions to ensure one, integrated MEMS for clients and partners.

Provide executive insight on emerging markets, regulatory trends, and redevelopment opportunities to guide enterprise planning and investment.

Senior Client & Market Engagement

Build and maintain executive‑level relationships across public, private, and First Nations‑led brownfield redevelopment markets.

Partner with the Director, Business Development & Strategic Growth on national pursuits, proposals, and sector positioning; represent MEMS as a trusted technical advisor with clients, regulators, and industry bodies.

Service Excellence, Technical Leadership & Risk‑Based Differentiation

Champion project governance, safety, quality, and defensibility across the BAD portfolio.

Provide hands‑on technical leadership with a strong risk‑assessment orientation (risk‑based approaches that drive market differentiation in brownfield assessment, remediation, and redevelopment decision‑making).

Promote innovation and pragmatic adoption of tools, methods, and delivery approaches that improve outcomes and repeatability.

Financial & Operational Leadership (Enterprise Collaboration)

Lead the BAD Service Group P&L (revenue, margin, backlog, utilization) and partner with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and workload planning.

Work in close collaboration with other Service Groups and the BAD regional management structure to optimize capacity, pursue integrated opportunities, and ensure disciplined, scalable growth.

Make data‑informed investment recommendations (people, systems, capabilities) to support national objectives.

People Leadership & Talent Development (One‑Company Culture)

Mentor and grow a high‑performing national team of project managers, technical specialists, and regional leaders—reinforcing One‑Company behaviors, shared standards, and cross‑regional collaboration.

Build succession plans and strategic technical capacity aligned with future opportunities; uphold a culture of Safety, Integrity, Quality, Service, Teamwork, and Accountability.

What You Bring

10+ years progressive consulting experience in environmental/brownfield redevelopment with proven success in technical leadership, risk‑based assessment, client strategy, and team development.

Demonstrated ability to set and execute national service strategy within a regional framework, balancing consistency, local context, and enterprise goals.

Strong understanding of Canadian environmental legislation and redevelopment frameworks; ability to translate regulatory and risk insights into defensible, practical solutions.

Track record of P&L stewardship, forecasting, and portfolio health (revenue, margin, backlog, utilization).

Exceptional communication and stakeholder influence skills; trusted advisor with executives, partners, regulators, and First Nations clients.

Enterprise mindset: aligns practice decisions to corporate objectives, collaborates across service groups, and models One‑Company leadership.

Success Measures (Year 1–2)

Strategy & Growth: National BAD strategy approved and operationalized across regions; measurable growth in prioritized markets.

Service Excellence: Portfolio safety, schedule, scope, budget, and quality metrics trending positive; increased project defensibility and client satisfaction.

Risk‑Based Differentiation: Clear technical standards and risk‑assessment practices embedded; visible win‑themes in pursuits.

Financial Health: Revenue, margin, utilization, and backlog within plan; forecast accuracy and workload balance improved.

People & Culture: Strong leadership bench and succession; cross‑regional collaboration evidence; staff engagement on MEMS values.

Why Join MEMS

Lead a nationally influential portfolio with room to innovate, mentor, and shape industry direction.

Collaborate with respected experts who value technical excellence, defensibility, and One‑Company teamwork.

Contribute to meaningful work that supports communities, developers, and First Nations partners in safely reshaping legacy sites.

Be part of a company guided by Safety, Integrity, Quality, Service, Teamwork, and Accountability.

Pay Transparency In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At MEMS certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Pay Range: $158,000 - $170,000

How To Apply Send your resume to recruitment@mems.ca, or apply via our website. We thank all applicants; only those selected for interview will be contacted.
