JOB SUMMARY:
SaskPower’s mission is to power Saskatchewan to a cleaner energy future through innovation, performance, and service. Our Application Management team directly contributes to these goals through the implementation, administration, and support of a diverse portfolio of enterprise applications that enable SaskPower’s operational, security, compliance, and business processes. The Specialist, Application Management (Commercial Off the Shelf) works as a member of the Application Management team to implement, manage, and support a portfolio of commercial off the shelf (COTS) enterprise applications that support SaskPower’s operational and business needs. The Specialist works closely with business partners, vendors, and internal technical teams to ensure solutions meet SaskPower’s requirements, both business and technical.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Plan, research, develop, evaluate and implement processes, policies and procedures utilized for the development of strategies and business initiatives that address the organization’s requirements
• Act as a subject matter expert in a specialized function to develop, implement, coach and assist management staff in the administration and interpretation of corporate policies; providing advice that is appropriate, practical and consistent with relevant legislation, regulations, laws and/or industry standards
• Identify new business solutions and operational efficiencies, while providing recommendations which have a significant impact on SaskPower’s business operations and strategies
• Lead and/or participate in cross-functional projects to provide functional expertise for corporate and departmental strategic planning initiatives
• Represent the department and prepare and present material to internal and external audiences as required
• Maintain knowledge of industry developments and best practices related to area of specialization and adapt them to SaskPower’s operational environment
• Provide leadership and direction to project teams and/or assigned staff as required
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or other related equivalent AND/OR;
• Related professional designation(s) and/or certification(s) AND/OR;
• Five (5) years of related experience installing, supporting, and enhancing enterprise applications across diverse technical platforms, including commercial off the shelf (COTS) enterprise solutions, application administration and configuration, integrations with supporting technologies (such as relational databases, application hosting components, and security-related dependencies used to support application data integrity, secure operation, and issue analysis), cloud and virtualized environments, and automation and DevOps practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines is considered an asset.
• Team player with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships both internal and external to SaskPower
• Results oriented thinker, with the ability to manage and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism
• Excellent analytical, research and problem-solving skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work and manage in a changing environment

• Professional development in the following areas is considered an asset:
Formal Developer Certification (ex. Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD))
Azure Cloud Platform Certification (Microsoft Certified Azure Developer Associate)
IT Service Management (ITSM) / ITIL Certification (e.g., ITIL 4 Foundation)
Application Specific Certifications:
o Formal Intelex Training
o Formal Power Monitoring Expert (PME) training (EcoXpert Certification, Power Management University and/or Schneider Electric University)
o Genetec Security Center Omnicast or Synergis Certification
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered
