Civil/Structural engineers are required to perform structural and seismic analysis, seismic margin assessment, and structural design as well as prepare and issue analysis, design, and assessment documents.
Position Candu Energy Inc. is looking to hire multiple Senior Specialist Civil Engineers for full‑time, permanent positions. The work includes structural and seismic analysis, design checks, and assessment of structures, systems, and components for existing Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) and new builds. Candidates should be familiar with analysis programs such as ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI, ETABS, SAFE, etc.
Your role Lead and deliver civil/structural engineering projects across all design phases, ensuring scope, budget, schedule, and quality objectives are met.
Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to)
Develop and review engineering deliverables including calculations, drawings, specifications, layouts, and technical documents in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and QA programs.
Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
Coordinate structural work with multidisciplinary teams, field engineering groups, and plant operations to support design, construction, and modifications.
Perform design reviews, field investigations, walk‑downs, inspections, and structural analysis using industry‑standard software tools.
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of engineering outputs while contributing to proposals, estimates, and formal engineering reviews.
About you
Civil Engineering degree with 15+ years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures for nuclear power plants and/or industrial facilities; Master’s degree considered an asset.
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, with strong knowledge of Canadian and international codes and standards (NBCC, CSA, CSA N289 series) and nuclear QA and safety requirements.
Recognized structural engineering specialist, preferably in the nuclear industry, with experience acting as a technical authority and interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.
Proven expertise in static, dynamic, and seismic analysis of structures and foundations using industry‑standard software (e.g., STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE), along with proficiency in Mathcad and Microsoft Office.
Strong project and field experience, including site work, nuclear plant modifications, multidisciplinary teamwork, time management, and delivery under tight schedules and budgets.
Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills; able to work independently or across multiple projects, support field assignments, travel to client sites, and obtain required security clearance.
