Senior Health, Safety & Environmental Field Coordinator

About the Role

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Senior HSE Field Coordinator to join a well-established construction group operating across multiple divisions and project sites in Ontario. Acting as a senior member of the HSE field team, this role bridges field operations and HSE leadership providing expert guidance, mentoring junior coordinators, and ensuring full compliance with all applicable safety regulations and company policies.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced HSE professional who thrives in a dynamic, multi-site construction environment and is passionate about building a culture of safety excellence from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of company-wide HSE programs across multiple active job sites
• Ensure compliance with OHSA, ISO 14001, COR, and all other applicable safety and environmental standards
• Lead site inspections and audits, tracking corrective actions through to completion
• Oversee subcontractor safety compliance, providing guidance and enforcement as required
• Investigate incidents and near misses, performing root cause analysis and developing corrective action plans
• Prepare and present HSE reports, analyzing trends to identify risks and prevention strategies
• Mentor HSE Coordinators and deliver training, ensuring certifications and records are current
• Champion a safety-first culture and support emergency preparedness and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

Must-Haves

• 5–7 years of progressive HSE experience within the construction industry, with significant field-based exposure
• Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
• In-depth knowledge of OHSA, ISO 14001, COR, and other relevant HSE regulations and standards
• Comprehensive understanding of COR and ISO audit processes, with accreditation or eligibility to conduct audits under the respective standards
• Strong ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate effectively with diverse site teams
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in HSE management software and the Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in incident investigation and data interpretation

Nice-to-Haves

• Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation
• Experience with SALUS or similar HSE field management platforms
