Title National Sales Manager – Hearth – Independents (Remote)
Reports To Sr Director Sales – Hearth
Job Purpose Reporting to the Sr. Director of Sales, Hearth Canada, the National Sales Manager is a key member of the management team. Responsible for the development and performance of all sales activities in the Independents channel. Directs and coaches a sales team and provides leadership toward the achievement of maximum profitability and sales growth in line with the business plan. Establish, implement, and report strategies and KPI’s to strategically expand customer base and programs for Dealers, Distributors, Account Managers, and Business Development Managers. Support the development of the brand in achieving the goals of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Manages and directs Sales Team to achieve sales and profit goals.
Build and maintain strong, long‑lasting customer relationships by partnering with customers to understand their business objectives through strategic planning and execution.
Create, communicate, and administer sales and marketing policies and programs to support trade partners. Develop and implement field marketing strategies to effectively communicate the Napoleon value proposition.
Conduct one‑on‑one reviews with all Business Development/Account Managers to build more effective communications, to understand training and development needs, and to provide insight for the improvement of the team's sales and activity performance.
Maintain sales volume, pricing structure, product development, and selling strategies by continuously scanning the economic and competitive landscape as well as shifting retail and consumer trends. Ensure sales pipeline is tracked and supports overall revenue goals.
Provide timely feedback to senior management regarding sales and territory performance. Prepare monthly sales report detailing sales, activities, significant events, competition, etc.
Understand market and consumer demand, and translate that into managing forecasts collaboratively with supply chain and demand planning, to meet and exceed customer demand.
Internal collaboration driving the business forward, by communicating with Marketing, Operations, Production, and Dealer Services to ensure alignment in achieving our objectives.
Assist and participate in national, regional and local promotions for Napoleon including trade and consumer shows where applicable.
Extensive travel required within the territory (up to 30%) including customer visits, territory travel, attending tradeshows, participating in workshops and industry events.
Support Hearth Optimization business strategy and goals with stakeholders and Sr. Director Sales Hearth Canada.
Education & Experience
University Degree
3+ years of proven sales leadership experience in a results‑oriented environment and ability to lead a sales team. 3+ years in the Hearth industry experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, CRM program), Social Media applications (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube).
Must have proven experience growing sales in a defined Region within the specialty retail, new construction, distribution environment and the ability to coach and lead a remote sales team. Bilingual in French is preferred.
Extensive territory travel and weekend work as required. The ability to travel throughout the USA and Canada. The ability to work from a home office environment.
