Job description
Adecco is currently hiring a full-time experienced Customs Specialist to support international logistics and trade compliance for one of our clients in the Scarborough area. This role is responsible for overseeing cross-border shipments across multiple countries, ensuring customs compliance, and enabling the efficient, cost-effective movement of goods. This role requires strong regulatory knowledge, attention to detail, and confidence working with internal teams and external partners.
  • Pay Rate: $30.00 - $37.00/hour (based on experience)
  • Location: Scarborough, ON

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage customs and cross-border shipping coordination across multiple countries, ensuring timely and cost-efficient delivery
  • Manage all customs compliance activities for international shipments, including import/export regulations, tariff classifications, and country-specific requirements
  • Coordinate closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and government agencies to ensure smooth customs clearance
  • Proactively resolve shipment delays, documentation issues, and regulatory challenges
  • Prepare, review, and validate commercial invoices, certificates of origin, customs declarations, and trade documentation
  • Monitor and interpret changes in global trade regulations, duties, and tariffs, and advise internal stakeholders on potential impacts
  • Implement and maintain processes and internal controls to support ongoing compliance and operational efficiency
  • Provide guidance and best-practice support to internal teams regarding cross-border shipping and trade compliance
  • Support audits, reviews, and compliance inquiries as required
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in customs compliance, international logistics, or cross-border shipping coordination
  • Proven experience managing customs and trade compliance across multiple countries
  • Strong working knowledge of import/export regulations, tariff classifications, and customs documentation
  • Hands-on experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and regulatory bodies
  • High attention to detail with the ability to review and prepare accurate trade documentation
  • Ability to stay current on evolving trade regulations and translate them into operational actions
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously
  • Clear, confident communication skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Mu st be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
