Coordinates delivery of facilities services including mail room, janitorial and building maintenance, and room/catering set-up. Directs the work of service clerks and establishes priorities for the service unit. Maintains custodial central inventory.
About the Role
The Senior Service Clerk plays a key operational role in coordinating day-to-day facilities services at SFU’s Harbour Centre campus. This position oversees mail room operations, custodial services, room and event set-ups, and building maintenance coordination while directing the work of service clerks, couriers, and contract staff. The role ensures facilities requests are accurately assessed, prioritized, and completed efficiently, and maintains custodial and general supply inventories for multiple departments. With a strong focus on service delivery and operational continuity, the Senior Service Clerk acts as a central point of contact for facilities-related issues and contributes to a well-functioning, safe, and welcoming campus environment.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized and service-oriented professional with experience in facilities or operations support within a complex environment. They bring strong problem-solving skills, the ability to coordinate multiple priorities, and confidence directing the work of others. Effective communication, attention to detail, and sound judgment are essential, along with the ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams, contractors, and vendors. Experience with inventory control, scheduling, and customer service in a fast-paced setting will support success in this role.
Qualifications
High School graduation and one-year post-secondary education with training in building maintenance. Level 2 Occupational First Aid Certificate. 3 years of experience. An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable.
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize facilities services across multiple operational areas.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to assign work and establish priorities for a service unit.
- Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of inventory control, record-keeping, and standard operational procedures.
