Job descriptionProduct & Engineering Full Time Remote $85,000 - $90,000 CAD per year
About the Role We're looking for a Senior Python Developer to join our growing product team. You'll architect and own backend systems powering real-time data ingestion, large-scale threat detection, and AI-driven analysis. From wiring up LLM pipelines and agentic workflows to building rock-solid internal APIs, your code directly helps clients detect and shut down real digital threats. This role sits at the intersection of backend engineering and applied AI — you'll be expected to move fluidly between both.
Responsibilities
Design and maintain Python-based microservices powering our digital risk protection platform at scale
Build and operate data pipelines that ingest, process, and normalize external risk signals — social media, dark web feeds, web scraping, and more
Integrate and orchestrate AI/ML models for tasks like impersonation detection, content classification, and phishing identification
Leverage LLMs and agentic AI tools (including Claude and Claude Code) actively in your daily development workflow, not as novelties, but as core productivity and quality levers
Design RESTful and event-driven internal APIs to serve frontend teams, analysts, and automation pipelines
Collaborate with DevOps on performance, observability, and cloud infrastructure on AWS
Participate in architecture decisions, code reviews, and agile development cycles.
Required Skills
4–5 years of Python development with a strong command of the language, ecosystem, and async patterns
MySQL proficiency: schema design, query optimization, indexing strategies, and relational data modelling
AWS experience, comfortable deploying and monitoring workloads across EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, SQS, and related services
AI Hands-on experience with AI developer tools — Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar; you use AI to write better code faster, not just as autocomplete
AI LLM/API integration experience — calling and orchestrating models via APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.), prompt engineering, and handling model outputs reliably in production
Experience building RESTful APIs and working with JSON, webhooks, and async messaging patterns
Solid understanding of data structures, performance optimization, and async/concurrent workflows
CI/CD familiarity and comfort shipping in a fast‑paced startup environment
Comfortable working in startup‑paced environments with evolving requirements
Nice-to-Haves:
Social media API experience — programmatic access to platforms like X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Meta, Reddit, or similar at scale
Cybersecurity or threat intelligence background — understanding of attack vectors, OSINT, brand protection, or digital risk
ML workflow exposure (scikit‑learn, Hugging Face, fine-tuning, or building classification/detection pipelines)
AI Experience building agentic workflows or multi-step AI pipelines (LangChain, LlamaIndex, custom orchestration)
Web scraping, DNS tooling, or OSINT data source integration
Experience with Redis, Elasticsearch, or graph databases alongside relational DBs
Work on high-impact problems that matter to businesses around the world
Small, tight-knit team with a lot of room for ownership
Competitive salary and equity package
Flexible remote work, generous vacation, and growth opportunities
