Job descriptionThe Manufacturing Shop Manager is accountable for the leadership and performance of cabinet and trim manufacturing operations, ensuring consistent delivery of production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements. This role is instrumental in driving operational efficiency, leading high‑performing teams, and fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the shop.
Primary Responsibilities
Oversee end-to-end manufacturing operations, from scheduling to final shipping.
Develop and manage production schedules aligned with customer demand and timelines.
Monitor performance using KPIs to ensure quality, cost control, and on‑time delivery.
Lead, coach, and support supervisors and shop teams.
Troubleshoot production challenges and implement effective solutions.
Support workforce planning, staffing, and onboarding in partnership with HR.
Promote and model Potvin’s core values in daily operations.
Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and lead a safe work environment.
Conduct regular shop floor inspections to maintain quality and efficiency.
Identify and implement process improvements to reduce waste and optimize production.
Oversee equipment maintenance and recommend upgrades where needed.
Collaborate across departments to ensure alignment on production, design, and delivery.
Act as Management Co‑Chair of the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in cabinet manufacturing or woodworking.
3+ years in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
Post‑secondary education in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or related field (preferred).
Lean Six Sigma certification (Yellow Belt or higher) considered an asset.
JHSC certification considered an asset.
Bilingual (English/French) is required.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of cabinet manufacturing processes and materials.
Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP system is an asset.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, or similar software is an asset.
