Financial Analyst – Technology Services (Gas Distribution)

About the Role
We are seeking a Financial Analyst to provide hands‑on financial and analytical support within the Technology Services (TS) group, supporting the Gas Distribution business area. This role is highly analytical in nature and focuses on CapEx and OpEx financial management, working closely with an internal PMO office supporting capital projects.
You will join a small, collaborative team (3–4 people) in a large, shared office environment based in North York.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform heavy financial and analytical work, including:
- Data analysis and financial analytics
- Variance analysis and financial trend analysis
- Support financial management of CapEx projects, partnering closely with PMO teams
- Manage and analyze CapEx and OpEx financial data within Technology Services
- Prepare charge tables and support financial and project reporting
- Deliver accurate, timely financial insights to support leadership decision‑making
- Build and maintain complex Excel workbooks used for financial analysis and reporting
- Communicate financial results clearly to finance, IT, and business stakeholders
Out of Scope:
This role does not include journal entries or core accounting activities.
Must‑Have Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant financial or analytical experience (not suitable for new graduates)
- Strong experience in:
- Financial analysis
- Data analytics
- Variance analysis
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- VLOOKUPs / XLOOKUPs
- Pivot tables
- Complex, multi‑tab spreadsheets
- Strong PowerPoint skills for financial and project reporting
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial insights effectively
Nice‑to‑Have Qualifications
- CPA or MBA (completed or in progress)
- FP&A experience
- Exposure to tools such as:
- Oracle 12 or Oracle Cloud
- SAP GO (reporting)
- Copperleaf
- SEMI software (nice to have, not required)
- Experience in highly regulated industries, such as:
- Utilities
- Oil & Gas
- Energy / Electrical sectors
