Our client in Calgary/Vancouver is looking for an IT Director. This role will be responsible for overseeing enterprise systems, network infrastructure, Microsoft 365 applications, end-user computing, cybersecurity, and vendor relationships to ensure reliable, secure, and cost-effective IT services. The IT Director will work closely with senior leadership to align technology initiatives with business goals, manage budgets and procurement, uphold IT policies and compliance requirements, and support business continuity through effective disaster recovery planning. Responsibilities
Oversee the maintenance, performance, and reliability of corporate servers, including patching, updates, and proactive monitoring to minimize downtime Lead and manage the IT function, including IT support analysts Design, implement, and manage Windows-based systems and Microsoft 365 applications (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook) Manage corporate network infrastructure, ensuring stable connectivity and integration between on-prem and cloud environments Oversee deployment and lifecycle management of end-user devices (desktops, laptops, mobile devices), including updates and patching Ensure data security, compliance, and adherence to IT policies and best practices Partner with business leaders to evaluate and implement technology solutions that improve processes and productivity Own the IT budget and procurement, ensuring cost-effective delivery aligned with business needs Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for IT services, software, and hardware Develop and enforce IT security policies and ensure compliance with standards and regulations Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning to ensure operational resilience Manage Internet Service Providers (ISPs), including performance monitoring and issue resolution Oversee software deployment, licensing, and updates to ensure compliance, security, and seamless integration Qualifications
10+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology, including 5+ years in a senior IT leadership or management role overseeing enterprise infrastructure, systems, and IT support operations Strong hands-on experience with Windows-based server environments, including performance optimization, patch management, monitoring, and uptime reliability Advanced administration of Microsoft 365 platforms, including Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, and related identity and security services Proven expertise in network infrastructure management, including LAN/WAN, VPNs, firewalls, cloud integrations, and hybrid environments Experience managing end-user computing environments, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and corporate software applications Demonstrated experience developing and enforcing IT security policies, data governance standards, and technology controls to ensure compliance and risk mitigation Experience leading IT disaster recovery and business continuity planning, including documentation, testing, and ongoing maintenance Proven experience managing IT budgets, forecasting costs, and delivering cost-effective solutions while maintaining system reliability Extensive experience with IT procurement and vendor management, including contract negotiation, licensing, software and hardware selection, and vendor performance oversight Experience overseeing software deployment, licensing, updates, and compliance across enterprise environments Experience managing Internet Service Providers (ISPs), including vendor coordination and resolution of connectivity issues Prior experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments (financial services, capital markets, or similar industries) preferred
