Early Childhood Educator – Multi-site
YMCA Childcare in Kelowna is growing. We are looking for engaged, energetic, and passionate educators to join our team! As an Early Childhood Educator in our YMCA programs you will use observations skills to plan a YMCA Playing to Learn emergent curriculum. Children’s play experiences are used to build a dynamic learning environment.
Reporting to the Manager of Child Care Programs, an Early Childhood Educator will facilitate a high-quality child care experience for children ages birth to 5 in accordance with YMCA standards and provincial requirements.
Additionally, the YMCA of SIBC participates in the Early Childhood Educator Wage Enhancement program offered through the Government of BC, currently providing an additional $6 per hour.

- Plan, implement, lead, and evaluate specific expectations of curriculum to ensure YMCA Playing To Learn and Place to Connect curriculum is maintained across multiple childcare settings
- Support colleagues and connect with families to provide a comprehensive program plan that is developmentally appropriate, while working collaboratively with teams at different centres
- Actively participate in programs with children, while coordinating care and adapting to the dynamic needs of staff, children, and families across varying centre environments
- Establish and maintain positive daily communication and interaction with families, providing quality customer service and building meaningful relationships across assigned centres
- Actively ensure licensing standards and safety standards are maintained for all childcare settings, classrooms, and outings
- Execute behaviour care plans utilizing a child-centred approach by engaging parents, educators, and YMCA colleagues
- Adapt quickly to different centre routines, classroom environments, and age groups while maintaining consistent quality of care
- Actively participate and promote philanthropy through YMCA Association initiatives
We’d love to hear from people with:
- Only candidates who hold a British Columbia Early Childhood Educator License to practice can be considered for these positions*
*Early Childhood Educator Assistant License may be considered. - Must be 19 years of age (as per Provincial licensing standards)
- Flexibility to work across multiple YMCA Child Care centres, with schedules that may fluctuate based on operational needs
- Enthusiasm, energy, interpersonal, and organizational skills necessary to support a positive team environment across diverse centres
- Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR level B or C
