Summary/Objective
The primary role of the Interchange Analyst is to provide advanced technical analysis and strategic support for merchant payment data. This position focuses on identifying root causes of high processing costs, developing technical solutions for interchange optimization, and creating data-driven tools to enhance cost management for large-scale clients.
Essential Functions/ Responsibilities
- Investigate payment processing data from multiple card brands and processors to identify the root cause of excessive interchange fees.
- Assess complex merchant statements and understand technical payment issues to provide actionable solutions to clients.
- Design, write, and enhance proprietary tools and data libraries for internal and external usage to automate cost-saving analyses.
- Handle technical inquiries from internal stakeholders and external clients regarding scheme fees and optimization strategies.
- Track market trends, card network programs, and industry technology developments to synthesize findings into technical recommendations.

Education & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in CS, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- Industry: 3+ years in electronic billing/payments, including knowledge of NACHA and Card Network regulations.
- Client Success: 3+ years in a technical or analytical client-facing role, with experience presenting to management and clients.
Technical Skills
- Data Tools: Proficient in SQL, relational databases, and Excel.
- Visualization: Experience with BI tools like Tableau.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.
Physical Demands
This position requires extended sitting and/or standing at a computer workstation.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Up to 25% travel to customer sites or internal meetings may be required
