We’re looking for an HR Manager based in Waterloo, Ontario who can operate both strategically and hands-on—partnering with the business while ensuring strong alignment to Ontario employment law and broader Canadian HR practices.
💼 About the Role
This role is equal parts business partner, culture driver, and HR leader. You’ll support assigned business lines, lead HR initiatives, and work closely with operations to align people strategy with business goals—while ensuring compliance across Ontario and, where applicable, other provincial regulations.
🔑 What You’ll Do
- Partner with operations leaders as a trusted HR advisor
- Lead and execute HR programs across the employee lifecycle
- Ensure compliance with Ontario employment legislation (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code) and support multi-province considerations
- Use data and analytics to identify trends and drive decisions
- Support attraction & retention strategies in partnership with Recruiting and Compensation
- Coach leaders on performance management, employee relations, and engagement
- Conduct and oversee employee investigations
- Build strong community partnerships and employer brand presence in the Waterloo region
- Develop and mentor HR team members
- Lead key HR projects aligned to business priorities
🎯 What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of HR experience (service-driven environment preferred)
- 5+ years leading people and/or projects
- Strong working knowledge of Ontario employment law; exposure to other Canadian provinces is a plus
- Proven experience handling employee relations and conflict resolution
- Strong business acumen with the ability to influence at all levels
- Data-driven mindset with strong Excel skills
- Bachelor’s degree required (HR or Business preferred)
- CHRP/CHRL or SHRM-CP/SCP is a plus
