Air Inuit has been providing essential scheduled, chartered, cargo and emergency air transport services to Nunavik and beyond- 24 hours a day, 365 days a year - for over 42 years. Collectively owned by the Inuit of Nunavik, through Makivik Corporation, the airline operates a fleet of 30 aircraft and employs approximately 1,000 employees in one of the world's most challenging flight environments.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Contributes to the IT efficiency of organizational activities by designing, managing, maintaining and developping data structures and database servers. Coordinates the operation, protection and control of the use of databases. Provides technical support to database users.

Is also responsible for achieving the expected results or the implementation of action plans related to the protection of computer data against any cyberthreat, via the monitoring of security events, the analysis of the vulnerability of information systems and the implementation of risk mitigation solutions.

Contributes also to the efficiency of business intelligence activities by exploiting and analyzing information from the data warehouse and multidimensional databases. Monitors performance indicators and advises stakeholders in the use and interpretation of data.

As a high-level professional, offers solutions for improving or optimizing processes, programs, and work methods.

Contributes to the resolution of complex problems, requiring a comprehensive and in-depth analysis and understanding of all variables. Collaborates with various internal and external stakeholders. Contributes to knowledge transfer through functional guidance and coaching of less experienced team employees.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate to the efforts devoted to the execution of developing IT projects.
  • Implementation of processes that ensure alignment with business needs and that align with the service levels of industry best practices.
  • Rigorously monitor and improve procedures and processes in order to optimize the quality of the services offered.
  • Ensure the creation and development of an internal knowledge base (including documentation).
  • Processes, analyzes, and interprets database extractions so that the company can derive business improvements.
  • Skills in statistical techniques and master the numbers.
  • Understand and practice the different SQL database languages.
  • Collect, process and study data to produce business analyzes and recommendations.
  • Carry out any other tasks necessary and required by the company.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in computer science.
  • Minimum 8 to 12 years' relevant experience.
  • Technical knowledge : Excellent knowledge of MSSQL database management systems.Excellent knowledge of SQL language.Excellent knowledge data security best practice.Analytical mind and mastery of data analysis.Expertise in developing content in Power BI actively using the DAX language.Advanced expertise in dimensional data models, database design and development, data mining, segmentation techniques, data warehouses, batch processing and reporting techniques.Good knowledge of development concepts and methodologies.Good knowledge of Windows Server operating systems.
  • Work independently, while being part of a team player.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Bilingual (French-English).
  • Exceptional perseverance in finding technical means to carry out projects and tasks.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work while meeting deadlines under pressure (stress tolerance).
