Job Description
Northwestern Polytechnic is the largest post‑secondary institution in northern Alberta, offering a range of academic programs in certificates, diplomas, apprenticeships, and degrees.
The role is within the School of Applied Sciences and Technology, specifically the Humanities and Social Sciences Department.
Responsibilities
The Humanities and Social Sciences Department requires a Political Science Instructor to teach the following courses:
- PO1010 – Introduction to Political Studies, Ideas and Forms of Government
Course delivery will be asynchronous online, commencing on August 15, 2026.

Qualifications
An MA in Political Science is required; a PhD is preferred. Evidence of successful instruction of undergraduate courses in Political Science is an asset.
- Able to apply different instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with different learning styles.
- Knowledge of current educational technologies (e.g., videoconferencing, learning management systems) is desired.
- Knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action.
- Ability to teach both online and classroom-based courses.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships across the organization.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
