Our client is a distributor of packaging supplies and equipment, serving Ontario. They are dedicated to providing exceptional service and support to clients through a committed team of professionals.
Job Summary
The Service Coordinator is responsible for leading and coordinating all technical service operations for a packaging distribution business. This role ensures timely installation, maintenance, and repair of packaging equipment while delivering high levels of customer satisfaction. The Service Coordinator acts as the key link between customers, service technicians, sales teams, and vendors to support profitable growth and long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Service Operations
  • Coordinate daily service operations including installations, preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and upgrades of packaging equipment
  • Develop and enforce service procedures, safety standards, and best practices
  • Schedule service calls, allocate resources, and ensure timely completion of work orders
  • Monitor service KPIs such as response time, first-time fix rate, and customer satisfaction
  • Monitor shop service and repairs
  • Coordinate and book outside service vendors
Team Leadership
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback
  • Foster a team culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
Customer Relations
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for service-related customer issues
  • Build strong relationships with key accounts to support retention and upsell opportunities
  • Ensure service agreements are met or exceeded
Financial & Administrative Management
  • Support pricing strategies for service contracts, repairs, and preventative maintenance programs
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Sales to support new equipment installations and service contract renewals
  • Work closely with the parts coordinator to ensure timely ordering and delivery of parts
  • Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers for training, parts availability, and technical support
  • Provide feedback to leadership on product performance and customer needs
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in service management, preferably within packaging, industrial equipment, or distribution
  • Strong knowledge of packaging equipment (e.g., stretch wrappers, case sealers, strapping systems, automation)
  • Proven leadership and team management experience
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Microsoft GP, Field Connect, ERP, CRM, or service management software is an asset
  • Understanding of preventative maintenance programs and service contracts
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
Working Conditions
  • Combination of office and some shop/field work supporting the service tech team
  • On-call availability may be required
