Job Summary The Senior Electrical Design Engineer mentors junior engineers and works as part of the data center operations team. Responsibilities include planning, system design, system implementation, and support of data center electrical infrastructure. The role leads small to medium scale electrical projects and rollout of electrical engineering initiatives in currently operating data centers, assists with development and implementation of electrical engineering design standards, policies and procedures, and interacts with internal and external teams including design engineering, site engineering, construction management, regional data center operations, onsite support vendors and consultants.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage brownfield electrical engineering retrofit projects or other initiatives in operating data centers.
Provide guidance and project leadership, ensuring projects meet or exceed company expectations.
Maintain expert knowledge of critical facilities electrical engineering systems, including diagnostics and repairs.
Apply industry standards to resolve non-routine issues, recommend changes, and consider impacts on regional operations.
Utilize safe working practices and evaluate safety practices of others.
Interact with engineering, design, and construction disciplines.
Collaborate with capacity and site engineering teams to resolve power and/or cooling limitations and optimize resource utilization.
Mentor junior team members and direct internal and external project teams.
Direct external vendors such as general contractors, A&E design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers.
Communicate at executive level and develop SOPs and technical documentation.
Contribute to policy and procedure development, review, and enforcement.
Solve complex, cross-functional issues, propose system enhancements, and test suitability of components.
Qualifications
7+ years in electrical system design, operations, maintenance, and project planning with emphasis on data center or mission‑critical brownfield/retrofit projects.
Expertise in electrical system design, operations, maintenance, and project planning in data centers.
Experience developing and managing projects with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated efficiency and data‑modeling experience.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
Bilingual English/Spanish and/or English‑Canadian French is a plus.
Compensation Targeted pay ranges for each location are:
United States – Dallas Infomart Office DAI: $118,000 – $176,000 USD (Annual)
United States – New York City Office NYO1: $130,000 – $194,000 USD (Annual)
United States – Ashburn Office AEO: $130,000 – $194,000 USD (Annual)
Canada – Toronto Office TRO: $112,000 – $162,000 CAD (Annual)
