Job Summary The Product Development and design Supervisor will play a key role in handling a wide range of R&D department activities, including assisting the Product Design team in new product development and in‑house testing, focusing on improving and optimizing Toro’s current product lines, assisting the R&D teams and providing technical support to other internal stakeholders, overseeing R&D lab activities and general operations, periodically attending and supporting 3rd‑party laboratory testing, managing and assisting in setting up new test methods for the Toro Group, working with exterior vendors and industry partners to support and advance the Toro Group’s product offering, and providing leadership, mentorship and training to junior team members.
Direct and/or Indirect Reports This position reports directly to the Product Development and Design Manager and has direct reports, including but not limited to:

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities Management / Supervision / Leadership
Manage internal R&D lab activities and general operations.
Manage and coordinate R&D lab continual improvement and expanding capabilities.
Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff and share knowledge in area of expertise.
Manage and coordinate new and existing products for 3rd party laboratory testing.
Develop, manage and oversee/assist in setting up new test methods for the Toro Group.
Participate and represent the company in periodic industry related events, committees, regulatory agencies, etc.
Health and Safety

Works in compliance with the Health & Safety Act and regulations, including using any equipment, protective devices, or clothing required.
Reports any known workplace hazards or violations of the Act to the employer or supervisor.
Technical / Function
Provide technical advice and support related to product testing (in‑house and 3rd party) to internal stakeholders.
Work with exterior vendors and industry partners to advance the Toro Group’s product offering.
Work with/assist the Building Envelope team with field testing and product‑related investigation as necessary.
Develop, design and manage in‑house testing capabilities and services offered to the Toro Group.
Support the business in leading projects that will drive system/technology improvements.
Responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of R&D Lab activities and services.
Undertake meetings with stakeholder to ensure project/tasks are coordinated and executed successfully to project conclusion (full life cycle process, end to end service) ensuring an effective handover has been delivered.
Support the business in resolving unforeseen problems regarding products, fabrication, quality control, documentation… issues, and undertaking root cause analysis, and ensuring problems are promptly addressed.
Build/administer KPI systems to track R&D lab operation and performance.
Periodically attend 3rd party lab testing, conduct site visits related to products performance reviews. Occasional multi‑day, cross‑border travel may be required.
Other duties as assigned.
Administration
Develop and administrate in‑house testing services procedures, documentation, reporting of results, etc.
Supervise and administrative duties for R&D Lab Technicians and R&D Design Coordinators.
Develop procedures and database R&D lab operational and equipment records. Oversee maintenance of database.
Assist and participate in developing and executing training programs.
Manage and coordinate the process and distribution of incoming requests from internal stakeholders.
Manage inventory and database of extrusion samples during development and for record keeping.
Assist in various non‑typical administrative work related to the department’s operations.
Education And Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Architectural/Engineering/Construction.
Qualified PMP preferred or degree in relevant discipline.
Experience
15+ years in the window industry, related to design, performance testing and fabrication of various fenestration products.
Extensive knowledge of window related testing.
Prior experience in supervising a technical team (2‑5 persons).
Experience acting as a technical advisor/representative for internal and external stakeholders.

Salary Range:
$70000 - $120000
