138,500 - 169,300

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.
About the role
We’re looking for a Specialist or Senior Specialist, Specialty Solutions (Equipment Breakdown), to join our growing team!
What you’ll do here:
Develop business opportunities and long-term meaningful relationships with our broker partners by providing legendary service.
Use negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company.
Answer inquiries and make recommendations to brokers and underwriters through verbal and written correspondence.
Participate in broker visits, industry functions and marketing events in support of broker relationship development.
Provide research, development and project management support on strategic Specialty Lines projects.
Provide technical support and training to ensure a consistent application of corporate guidelines, quality and timely service, as well as effective control of insurance risks.
Review, approve, modify or decline referrals that are made on accounts beyond the authorities of our underwriting teams.
Conduct business and underwriting due diligence including regulatory and compliance research.
Prepare underwriting filings on behalf of Intact Insurance for submission to provincial regulators.
Participate in regulatory and industry meetings.
Participate in audits of accounts written by Specialty Solutions for quality control purposes.
Provide recommendations and report on the findings.
Develop, review and update technical policy wording and manuals, as required.
Establish and maintain productive business relationships with internal departments and external partners.
Manage day-to-day underwriting activities of strategic partnerships.
Contribute to the development of new products and corporate guidelines to effectively control insurance risks and positively impact profitability.
Research, implement and manage technology-based solutions for pricing, underwriting and risk managing commercial automobiles.
Support growth and profitability analysis.
Assist with the planning, development and maintenance of computer software and database information.
What you bring to the table:
Minimum 7 to 10 years of relevant underwriting experience in equipment breakdown and large property accounts.
Experience with Risk-Managed Property & Energy accounts and their associated Equipment Breakdown exposures (preferred)
Can handle multiple, competing priorities and projects.
Proven team player who thrives in collaborative environments and fosters strong working relationships across teams.
Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead, initiate, monitor and close projects.
Can make decisions in time sensitive situations, address complex problems, provide recommended course of action and take calculated risks.
Highly organized, with the ability to work towards goals while adapting to change in a fast-paced environment.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with cross-departmental teams.
CIP or FCIP designated or actively working towards it.
Willing to travel on occasion.
For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English speaking colleagues across the country.
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
