Job descriptionSenior Structural Engineer – Power Generation / Energy Location: British Columbia – any of our British Columbia based offices.
Responsibilities
Establish design criteria, prepare engineering specifications, design calculations and material take‑offs (MTO) in accordance with project requirements.
Support planning, scheduling and cost control activities in the design as related to the project plan.
Propose solutions to improve or optimize processes, programs and procedures.
Assist in resolving complex problems requiring comprehensive and detailed analysis and multi‑disciplinary understanding.
Contribute to knowledge transfer by providing functional guidance, coaching and peer review to less experienced professionals or technicians.
Participate in the planning and implementation of large and complex projects requiring innovative solutions.
Conduct on‑site inspections as required.
Prepare detailed civil and structural designs, including concrete foundations, piling, steel structures, etc.
Prepare documentation for engineering hours budgets, schedules, work plans, tender documents, technical reports, project calculations and other deliverables.
Assign and give instructions to technical support staff.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers and team members.
Ensure quality assurance, consistency and integrity of the electronic handover of deliverables.
Review and stamp drawings as required; interpret design codes and regulatory requirements.
Check work and assist in the training of less experienced engineering personnel.
Communicate with internal peers and project team and answer questions regarding deliverables.
Qualifications
University degree in Structural Engineering.
Registered P.ENG in British Columbia.
At least 10 years of experience in civil structural design with a focus on Power Generation and/or Energy projects.
Working knowledge of software such as SAP 2000, ETABS, S‑Frame, STAAD Pro, Dyna6, etc.
Familiarity with relevant design codes for piling, concrete and steel structures and current industrial standards.
Compensation AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $135,200 – $179,100
MB & ON: $123,300 – $169,800
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $114,900 – $154,800
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors, including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance and business or organizational needs.
