Job descriptionICAT Principal – Job Description Join WSP’s Building Technologies team and help position us as a market leader in Security, IT, and AV systems across Canada’s National Capital Region. As an ICAT Principal, you will play a pivotal role in delivering complex Building Technology projects that support communities, clients, and critical infrastructure.
Based out of our 2611 Queensview Drive office, and reporting to the Manager, NCR Building Technologies, this role offers the opportunity to lead large-scale, high-impact projects while mentoring talent and shaping the future of technology-enabled buildings.
Responsibilities
Lead the planning, design, and delivery of large-scale Building Technology and IT infrastructure projects across the National Capital Region.
Develop IT cabling, network, and technology system designs from concept through construction and closeout.
Oversee master planning, contract administration, tender reviews, and construction administration activities.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, high-quality building solutions.
Contribute to business development through proposal writing, client presentations, and technical workshops.
Mentor and coach junior team members, supporting technical excellence and career growth.
Uphold WSP’s quality assurance methodologies, ensuring designs meet internal, client, and regulatory standards.
Champion health and safety on all project sites, living WSP’s Life Saving Rules every day.
Qualifications
Professional IT credentials such as RCDD, DCDC, CCNA, or CCNP (preferred).
Demonstrated experience managing large, complex Building Technology projects.
Strong background in structured cabling, IT networking, SMART Buildings, and cybersecurity concepts.
Experience with security systems, AV, and other integrated building systems (considered an asset).
Proven ability to write technical reports, specifications, proposals, and bids, with an understanding of contracts and commercial terms.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence presenting to clients and stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment while meeting deadlines.
Eligibility to obtain a Public Works and Government Services Canada Level 2 SECRET security clearance, along with a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.
Compensation AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $162,200 – $212,200
MB & ON: $148,000 – $198,000
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $146,500 – $194,600
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
