Utility Tree Trimmer / Bucket Operator

Position Overview

As a Utility Tree Trimmer you will have the opportunity to travel to multiple work sites within a geographic area, executing trimming tasks for major electric utility providers and rail customers. Your certification – either as a Certified Utility Arborist or Utility Tree Trimmer – will guide safe and effective service that supports the ongoing transmission of electricity.

Job Duties

• Provide line clearing and tree trimming services for electric utility providers and rail customers.
• Collaborate with ground crew and crew leader as an active crew member.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal safely and skillfully.
• Remove hazardous trees and trim or remove trees and brush encroaching on utility or transportation rights‑of‑way.
• Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment—including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Set up and clean up the job site.
• Abide by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Certified Arborist or Utility Tree Trimmer designation required or equivalent.
• Experience performing pruning and removals from rope, saddle, and/or aerial lift.
• Utility tree trimming and climbing experience.
• Valid provincial driver’s license. Licensing to drive a 5‑ton vehicle and an air‑brake endorsement is an asset.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Ability to work safely as part of a team and a willingness to learn and progress.
