The Opportunity:


For the 2026-27 academic year, we are seeking a Dance Teacher to work in our Senior and Middle School on a 90% part-time basis. The position will consist of a 70% permanent role composed of Dance and Personal Project/Career Studies, and a 20% Dance contract for the academic year. The Dance Teacher will teach a variety of dance disciplines to Grade 7-10 students both in the academic and co-curricular timetables. They will also collaborate on the Dance Integration units with the Health & Physical Education department.


As a member of the Arts team, the successful candidate will report to the Instructional Leader of the Arts department. This posting is for an existing vacancy with a projected start date of August, 2026.


Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Using a lens of social-emotional learning, create a class environment that inspires and supports learning and personal growth;

  • Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a solid foundation for further education in accordance with each students ability;

  • Fosters a love of language and literature in young people;

  • Establish positive relationships with parents, faculty and other staff members;

  • Ensure the written, taught and assessed curriculum is in line with the IB and Ministry of Education curriculum ensuring differentiation;

  • Develop culturally relevant, inclusive and responsive Dance curriculums for diverse learners;

  • Develop course outlines, unit plans, lesson plans ensuring integration of all aspects of the IB Middle Years Program and Diploma Program curricula, with a focus on inquiry based learning;

  • Update all necessary records accurately as required by the Ministry, IBO and school guidelines;

  • Communicate information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress including formally through report cards and parent-teacher meetings;

  • Keep up-to-date and incorporate best practices in subject area and approaches to teaching and learning through professional reading, participating in workshops and other professional development opportunities;

  • Participate actively in faculty and department/division meetings and meet regularly with all course teams to plan, review and update the written curriculum;

  • Assume responsibility for and participate in co-curricular activities and supervision duties.


Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution;

  • Ontario College of Teachers certification or equivalent degree with I/S qualifications in Dance;

  • Minimum three years’ teaching experience;

  • Experience in and knowledge of IB is a strong asset;

  • Strong curriculum development skills and assessment practices that incorporate strategies relevant to the age and stage assessment practices;

  • A relational educator who incorporates Social-Emotional Learning and emotional coaching strategies in their practice;

  • Experience and/or desire to incorporate principles of equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging in curriculum;

  • Embraces innovation and collaboration;

  • Knowledge of relevant technology and able to work in a laptop and online environment;

  • Adept at leveraging technology to deliver education program and correspond with students, parents, colleagues and the community at large;

  • Belief in and alignment to Branksome Hall’s mission, vision and values:

  • Passionate about teaching and being in service of students and the community;

  • Ability to work both independently with little direct supervision as well as be a collaborative team member.

Target Hiring Range:

Placement on the Branksome Hall Faculty Salary Grid is determined based upon years of applicable teaching experience, level of education completed, and Additional Qualifications (AQs). The grid ranges from $70,903.08 – $101,270.67 for up to 6 years of applicable experience and $101,615.33 – $134,998.82 for more than 6 years of applicable experience.
