Direct Reports: Accounts Payable & Purchasing Administrator, Senior Donor Relations Administrator
Status: Full-time
Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000
Position Overview The Accounting Manager leads the accounting team, oversees daily accounting operations, and ensures accurate financial reporting. The incumbent will provide information to the Senior Director, Finance & Operations as requested to support analysis, budgeting, forecasting and the preparation of financial reports.
Major Responsibilities
Manage and execute the accounting operations including the review of journal entries, payroll, benefits and pension administration, accounts payable, accounts receivable and statutory reporting.
Oversee internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies and procedures.
Lead the accounting team to build a culture of collaboration, engagement and flourishing.
Identify and implement opportunities to optimize functions and efficiency within the available resources.
Provide strategic analysis as requested to drive improved decision making.
Work with external auditors and audit committee to support the annual audit.
Prepare financial information for monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
Provide input on all accounting matters including financial systems, recordkeeping, analysis, and reporting.
Set priorities within the accounting group.
All other financial and regulatory reporting to various companies and agencies (CRA, FSRA, Stats Can, etc.).
Participate in staff meetings, devotions and prayer meetings.
Other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Have a deep growing personal faith in Jesus Christ and support the Statement of Faith of The Peoples Church.
University degree in Business/Accounting, with advanced degree or professional accounting designation (such as CA, CPA, CGA, CMA, CMT) preferred.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of corporate accounting.
Thorough knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial, and local requirements regarding financial records, pensions, benefits etc.
Experience supporting audits performed by external audit firms.
Experience leading a collaborative team.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Experience in contemporary accounting systems.
Advanced knowledge of MS Office.
Good problem‑solving skills and the ability to make the necessary decisions.
Attention to detail.
Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
Working Conditions
Interacts with others (volunteers, staff, congregants, vendors) regularly.
Management position which involves working extra hours.
Must attend The Peoples Church.
Full time – occasional weekends.
Vulnerable Sector clearance required.
