The Forge Production Manager is responsible for the leadership, development, and daily oversight of a newly established forging department within a rapidly growing Controlled Goods–certified manufacturing organization. With the forge operating for less than one year, this role is critical in shaping operational standards, optimizing production workflows, and building a high-performing team in a unionized environment represented by the United Steelworkers (USW). This role combines strong technical forging expertise with proven leadership capability, collaborative union engagement, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced, safety-critical manufacturing environment. About You
Build structure and process discipline within a new or evolving department Lead in a safety-critical, heavy industrial environment Manage multi-level teams in a unionized setting Analyze production data and implement performance improvements Support capital planning and future capacity expansion Work extended hours or off-shift as operational needs require Education & Experience
Education: Diploma or Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field preferred. Equivalent forging operations experience may be considered. Experience: Minimum 5+ years of progressive manufacturing experience. At least 3 years of experience within a forging environment (closed-die, open-die, or ring rolling). Demonstrated experience managing or supervising production teams. Experience working within a unionized environment; familiarity with USW considered a strong asset. Experience in Controlled Goods or other regulated manufacturing industries (defense, aerospace, heavy industrial, automotive) preferred. Experience supporting start-up or rapid-growth production operations strongly desired. Technical Requirements: Strong technical understanding of forging processes and metallurgical principles. Knowledge of forging equipment including presses, furnaces, manipulators, and material handling systems. Understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance planning. Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, 5S, and root-cause analysis methodologies. Knowledge of Controlled Goods Program (CGP) requirements and regulatory compliance. Proficiency with production KPIs, manufacturing metrics, and scheduling tools. Knowledge

Primarily on-site within a forge and heavy manufacturing environment. Exposure to heat, noise, and industrial machinery. Occasional off-shift or weekend support required during equipment trials, maintenance, or urgent production needs.
