As the province’s largest energy provider with more than 100 years of knowledge and experience, we proudly deliver renewable energy, natural gas, electricity and propane to 1.3 million customers.

We're actively seeking new talent to join our mission of delivering a stronger energy future in B.C. As one of BC's Top Employers with a diverse team of over 2,800 employees, we are committed to a safe and inclusive culture where each of us can connect, belong, and grow. Join us, and together, let's shape a brighter future for B.C.

Position Overview

You're a master of workflows, and you know how to guide clients through an effortless customer journey. You're at your best when you collaborate and can harness others' insights to produce tangible process improvements and remarkable results. To top it all off, you're passionate about protecting our planet and are eager to apply your skills to a job that takes meaningful action in promoting sustainability and energy conservation.

This may be the perfect opportunity for you as our Conservation and Energy Management department is looking to hire a Program Specialist for the Conservation Assistance program area. Reporting to the Program Manager, this position is responsible for leading the development, implementation and ongoing administration of FortisBC’s programs assisting income qualified customers, charities and non-profit housing providers to reduce their energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

We want you to utilize your customer-centric vision to simplify customer experiences and leverage customer insights to improve the reach and satisfaction with our programs. This role will have its own unique needs and processes, which are vital for supporting our customers in reducing their energy consumption and carbon footprint.

In this role, you will:

  • Understand our strategic business priorities and build rapport with internal and external stakeholders such as BC Hydro, BC Non-profit Housing Association, BC Housing, The Ministry of Energy Mines and Low Carbon Innovation, and more.
  • Collaborate effectively with various departments within FortisBC, such as Communications, Energy Solutions, and Legal.
  • Identify appropriate new technologies and program eligibility guidelines to support program enhancements which maximize participation and energy savings while minimizing costs.
  • Identify and co-develop the collateral required to support programs and work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop communications plans.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new or revised programs from concept to implementation.
  • Prepare business cases for new programs, or modifications to existing programs, including substantiated justifications and cost-effectiveness analysis.
  • Oversee the ongoing administration, including application reviews, invoice processing, budget tracking, forecasting, reporting, and more, for a suite of programs.
  • Support regulatory activities for the BC Utilities Commission.

What it takes:

  • A diploma in marketing, communications or a related discipline from a recognized program, plus a minimum of three (3) years of related experience working with projects or program development.
  • PMP/CEM designation would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of principles of demand side management (DSM) and residential/commercial energy saving measures.
  • Demonstrated customer service approach and relationship building skills with program stakeholders.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with partners in a fast-paced environment with complex processes.
  • Thorough working knowledge of MS Office tools.
  • Valid BC Driver’s license.

Additional Information

This position will require some travel away from the base office to within the geographic area of coverage.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.

Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive, and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
