At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time HR BP Lead in Toronto we’re looking for?

This job posting represents an existing vacancy.

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your human resources expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and forward-thinking teammates.

You'll play a critical role in shaping a positive and inclusive work environment while driving strategic HR initiatives across the business. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business, including line managers, employees, and HR colleagues, to identify and address challenges, implement corporate HR strategies, and ensure compliance with company policies. You’ll also provide coaching and guidance to managers, helping them develop their leadership and people management skills.

You’ll specifically take care of workforce planning and recruitment strategies, as well as overseeing key HR processes such as performance management and employee development, but also ensure compliance with employment laws and collective agreements.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Providing professional HR support to business partners and driving the project HR performance
  • Understanding business needs and translating them into priorities, risks, and opportunities
  • Leading and supporting the HR project team in defining and addressing priorities
  • Championing initiatives to reinforce engagement and company values
  • Implementing and monitoring Alstom’s performance management system
  • Ensuring timely and effective recruitment and workforce planning
  • Supporting and developing line managers in managing their teams effectively
  • Collaborating with Total Reward and HRD to align policies with market trends
  • Maintaining accurate HR data and metrics to measure performance
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws and regulations, in close partnership with Centers of Expertises
  • Fostering positive industrial relations with unions and social partners
  • Contributing to the HR organization to generate learning and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Lead internal and external audits related to HR function and monitoring of action plans

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • University degree in human resources, psychology, business studies, social science, or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of HR business partnering experience in a similar industry or environment
  • Generalist HR management experience covering all areas of HR practice
  • Strong understanding of employment law, payroll, and employee relations
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Resilience and influence within a matrix organizational structure
  • Previous team management experience (desirable)
  • Ability to work from the project office location 4 days per week

Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy challenges and a long-term career free from boring daily routines
  • Work with new security standards for rail signalling
  • Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues
  • Contribute to innovative projects
  • Utilise our inclusive and flexible working environment
  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries
  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning
  • Progress towards leadership opportunities within the HR function
  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)

The expected compensation for this role is $115,000 – $150,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
