Job description
NorthRiver Midstream (NorthRiver) is one of North America's leading gas gathering and processing businesses on an exciting path of expansion and innovation that's not slowing down. We do energy differently.

We are a lean, agile, customer driven company with an asset base primarily located in the rich Montney reserves of Northeast British Columbia.

We have a proud and well‑earned reputation for safe, reliable operations.

We've made real commitments to measurable emission reductions and sustainability, and our results back this up.

We have a verifiable track record of meaningful indigenous partnership founded on mutual respect.

Our culture is one of partnership, collaboration, ownership and an unwavering commitment to finding solutions together.

Why work for us?

We're a team that cares about each other. We've got each other's back.

We believe that the best ideas win, no matter where they come from.

We're the perfect size - lean and agile.

We're big enough that there are great opportunities for career growth and personal development.

We’re looking for Director to join our all-star Regulatory team. We’re looking for:

A people leader:

Someone who takes the initiative:

You’re self‑motivated and don’t wait around for direction - you take the lead and make things happen. When you spot an opportunity or a challenge, you step in, take action, and move things forward.

You excel at organization and time management:

You consistently prioritize tasks, manage competing deadlines, and structure your work to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.

Keep calm and carry on:

When the pressure is on and deadlines are tight, you don’t just survive—you thrive. You know how to stay calm, think on your feet, and keep things moving forward without compromising those important relationships. You handle challenges with grace and always find a way to make it work for everyone involved.

Someone who has a strong attention to detail:

You consistently demonstrate precision and accuracy in your work, ensuring tasks are completed thoroughly without overlooking critical components. Your skill in juggling various responsibilities enable you to balance competing priorities effectively, supporting team goals while maintaining high standards of quality.

What you’ll do: Here is a sample of what your workday may look like:

Lead, mentor, and develop our high‑performing team of regulatory professionals.

Provide leadership and advice during regulatory proceedings and public hearings with the various federal/provincial regulatory bodies (CER, OGC, AER, and SRB), including witness support.

Liaise with government, regulatory officials, Indigenous and local communities to support applications.

Assist with due diligence for asset, share, and joint venture transactions.

Communicate regulatory developments within NorthRiver and advise on required regulatory approvals and anticipated timeframes

Collaborate with internal teams, including Legal, Indigenous and Community Relations, Land, Government Relations, Operations, Commercial and others is essential for aligning operational activities with regulatory responsibilities.

Provide leadership, direction and coaching to the Regulatory team to ensure they are successful in their roles and skills development.

What we offer:

What you bring: Required

A degree in a related field such as Environmental Science, Law, Biology, Agriculture, Engineering or a combination of education and relevant experience.

15+ years of experience including at least 10 years in progressively more senior roles.

Capability to lead and mentor a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

Excellent understanding of compliance and working with the Canada Energy Regulator. Familiarity with the Alberta Energy Regulator and British Columbia Energy Regulator also considered an asset.

Knowledge and experience of federal and provincial regulatory requirements (laws, guidelines and practices).

Ability to build positive relationships across the organization.

Resourcefulness in interpreting policy.

Preferred

Ability and willingness to travel to field locations in Northeast British Columbia and Northwest Alberta.

If this sounds like your next career adventure, we'd love to hear from you!

At NorthRiver Midstream we embrace a culture of diversity and inclusion with equal access to opportunities based on individual merit by creating an environment which encourages all employees to contribute their unique capabilities and perspectives.
