Job Description HPE is looking for a Datacenter Operations Site Manager to oversee the delivery, buildout, and ongoing operations of the core infrastructure and foundational technologies supporting the Supercomputing as a Service (SCaaS) business. The role is based onsite at the data center in Quebec City, Canada, with weekend/off‑hours on‑call rotation. The chosen candidate will be a key part of a team deploying and maintaining solutions that support a scaling customer base.
Primary Responsibilities
Primary regional point of contact and manager for our Supercomputing‑as‑a‑Service system
Oversee data center operations maintenance and sustainability, including defining processes for installing, decommissioning, troubleshooting, and diagnostics assessment
Manage system startup and shutdown, including hardware replacement as necessary
Assign tasks to technicians and monitor progress against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and established Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Ensure technicians are trained on procedures for installation, deployment, replacement, and post‑execution quality check processes
Implement and maintain security and data management protocols as defined by security architects and system admins
Maintain a deep understanding of the overall system, its components and functionality, to be an effective operations manager
Apply technical thinking to break down complex data and engineer new solutions for prototyping, designing, and implementing datacenter solutions
Collaborate with project managers and development partners to ensure efficient delivery, deployment, operation, monitoring, and support of datacenter engagements
Contribute business value expertise to drive the development of innovative service offerings that enrich HPE’s Cloud Services portfolio across multiple systems, platforms, and applications
Apply advanced subject matter knowledge to manage staff activities in solving common and complex technical issues within established policies
Experience and Skills
Excellent communication skills
Strong collaborator and ability to work well in a team environment
Hands‑on experience with tools and infrastructure to support HPC systems at scale, including networking and storage
Deep understanding of high‑performance computing
Experience working in a production, mission‑critical 24x7x365 datacenter environment
Applicable certifications: ITIL Foundation, ASICS/Inventory Control, CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Basic Structure Cabling (BSC), Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP), Six Sigma Green Belt
5+ years of team supervision or management experience
Experience leading a diverse, technical or IT workforce of up to ten employees
BS in Computer Science, IT Management, or equivalent
