In this role, you will:
Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of Babcock Canada’s Metal Stores Warehouse in accordance with Babcock Canada’s policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance of raw metal guidelines including receipt, marking, storage and handling, kitting, delivery and inventory.
Co-ordinate with various stakeholders, the raw metal material activities and deliveries for the Extended Docking Working Period (EDWP) and Victoria in service and support contract (VISSC).
Aid in the resolution of quality, supply conflicts and technical inspection issues regarding all raw metal materials.
Manage communications of the Metal Stores Warehouse with all internal and external stakeholders.
Consult with waterfront subcontractors to ensure production demand is met in a timely and safe manner.
Support project delivery by proactively seeking improvements to established policies and workflows.
Conduct work in a manner that supports a positive Health and Safety culture.
Actively contribute to cost saving initiatives in regard to raw metal materials.
Lead regularly scheduled inventory counts of metal stores.
Collaborate with material planning, procurement and warehousing teams to drive engagement and innovation within the P&SC function.
Perform other duties as deemed necessary and reasonable to support the business.
The ideal candidate brings:
Minimum 4 years related experience with 3+ years of management experience in a small warehouse environment.
Available for on call shifts as required by the business.
Available to work varied shifts and times as required.
A “home safe” approach to work and the ability to lead with the same mindset.
A background in either the marine or raw metals sectors.
The capacity to manage a small team (2-4 people) including scheduling, coaching, performance management and training.
A continuous improvement mindset.
The ability to operate and supervise the use of manual handling equipment.
Ability to safely operate and supervise the use of power tools.
Experience in risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience in the use of Microsoft Office products, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Experience performing facility and quality inspections and audits.
A professional attitude by leading through Babcock’s purposes and principles.
Knowledge of Quality Control or Quality assurance best practices as a benefit.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards would be advantageous.
Eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
