Job descriptionDirector, Infrastructure Operations Reporting to the VP, Technology Operations & Support, the Director, Infrastructure Operations is accountable for the end-to-end operational health, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency of all on‑premises and cloud environments. The role leads infrastructure engineering, cloud platforms, system and application administration, database services, networking, and operational security execution.
Key Responsibilities
Day‑to‑day operations of on‑premises and cloud infrastructure environments, including compute, storage, networking, databases, middleware, and core platforms.
Leadership and direction to managers and senior technical leads covering infrastructure engineering, cloud operations, system administration, application administration, DBAs, networking, and operational security.
Accountable for operational execution of security controls, ensuring platforms align with security standards, policies, and architectural direction defined by the Security team.
Partnership with Desktop and Application Management leaders to ensure infrastructure and platforms support end‑user and application requirements.
Collaborate with Change and Incident Management teams to control deployments, assess risks, and resolve incidents.
Design, implement, and oversee an operational support model using a third‑party provider for off‑hours monitoring, ticket triage, and emergency support, while retaining accountability for escalation, hand‑offs, and overall effectiveness.
Ensure availability of technical resources for project delivery, balancing BAU operational demands with project commitments and timelines.
Own platform availability, performance, capacity, resilience, and recoverability, including high‑availability and disaster‑recovry capabilities.
Oversee deployment, configuration, patching, lifecycle management, and decommissioning of infrastructure and platform services.
Ensure effective monitoring, alerting, logging, and operational response, driving continuous improvement in reliability and operational maturity.
Lead resource planning and workforce management, including skills development, succession planning, and capacity alignment to demand.
Own cloud and infrastructure cost management, including forecasting, optimization, vendor management, and financial accountability.
Establish and enforce operational standards, runbooks, automation, and best practices across infrastructure and platform services.
Provide clear direction, prioritization, and accountability to managers and teams delivering operational and project outcomes.
Act as an escalation point for significant operational issues, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication to stakeholders.
Support audits, risk assessments, and compliance activities related to infrastructure, operational controls, and security execution; facilitate development of relevant IT operational policies, standards and procedures.

Your experience and skills
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
10+ years of progressive IT experience, with 5+ years in infrastructure or operations leadership roles managing managers or senior leads.
Proven experience operating hybrid environments, including on‑premises infrastructure and public cloud platforms (e.g., Azure and/or AWS).
Strong background in infrastructure and platform operations, including compute, storage, networking, databases, and middleware.
Experience leading teams across systems administration, application administration, DBAs, networking, and operational security.
Demonstrated experience building and leading teams that support 24x7 operational environments and frequent deployment activity.
Strong understanding of incident, problem, and change management, and how they integrate with operational execution.
Experience executing security controls and operational safeguards in alignment with standards defined by a centralized Security function.
Proven ability to balance business‑as‑usual operations with project delivery, including shared resource planning and prioritization.
Strong experience with cloud cost management and optimization, including forecasting, vendor management, and financial accountability.
Experience developing managers and senior technical staff, building sustainable operational capability and depth.
Ability to collaborate effectively with peer leaders across Security, End User Computing, Applications, and Service Delivery.
Experience in regulated environments (financial services an asset).
Strong communication skills, engaging technical teams, peer leaders, and senior executives.
Fluent English; bilingual French is an asset.

Salary Expected salary range: $155,000 - $165,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
