Job descriptionAt CWP Energy Trading, we operate at the intersection of data, technology and power markets. Our mission is to turn high‑quality data, strong technology and market expertise into better decisions and better outcomes. Our team supports critical trading operations and builds internal platforms, data products, and tools that help the business move faster with confidence. What you will do
Own and evolve our cloud platform foundations to support critical electricity trading operations. Improve our security, reliability and maintenance posture through clear standards, automation, monitoring and operational discipline. Lead cloud cost optimization efforts by identifying waste, implementing sustainable cost controls and improving resource governance. Design and maintain internal engineering guardrails, including infrastructure patterns, CI/CD practices, observability standards and secure‑by‑default workflows. Build and improve both internal and client‑facing products, helping to generate revenue for the business. Help define how AI can be applied concretely across our SDLC, including coding workflows, documentation, quality checks, test generation, runbooks and repetitive engineering tasks. Partner with developers, traders, analysts and business stakeholders to ensure technology investments create measurable business impact. Contribute to the design and evolution of reliable data and platform components supporting real‑time and batch workloads. Reduce key‑person risk by documenting systems, codifying knowledge and turning ad‑hoc practices into repeatable operating models. Act as a senior technical reference on architecture, operational risk, prioritization and engineering quality. What success looks like
Cloud environments are more secure, reliable and cost‑efficient. Trading operations are more efficient and profitable. Teams rely less on tribal knowledge and more on clear standards and automation. Engineers move faster because the platform is easier to use and safer by default. AI removes friction and multiplies team productivity. Technical decisions are grounded in business impact, not complexity for its own sake. What we're looking for
8+ years in software engineering, platform engineering or DevOps/SRE with direct ownership of production infrastructure, incident response and reliability at scale. Strong experience designing and operating cloud‑native systems in AWS, GCP or Azure, including networking, IAM and multi‑environment setups. Strong Python skills, with the ability to build mission‑critical tools, automation and backend services that support trading operations and the engineering platform. Deep hands‑on DevOps experience across Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, rollback strategies and observability (metrics, logs, tracing, alerting). Production experience with containerised environments and Kubernetes, including deployment strategies and troubleshooting. Solid understanding of cloud security and secure‑by‑default practices, including IAM, secrets management, access controls and infrastructure governance. Proven track record improving cloud cost efficiency, system resilience, uptime and platform governance/standards. Demonstrated use of generative AI and agentic workflows to improve team productivity, including AI development tools and SDLC automation. Good command of SQL and data platform concepts, with the ability to support production data pipelines. Strong operational mindset, sound judgement, pragmatism, and communication skills to work effectively with technical teams and senior leadership. What are we offering
The opportunity to take part in an entrepreneurial culture that encourages initiative. Full group insurance and the opportunity to contribute to an RRSP program. A vacation policy upon arrival. A public transit incentive program. A beautiful office with a gym, a golf simulator, a lounge, locker rooms and showers.
