The Opportunity
Build the Future with Us

What if you could help shape responsible mining projects across Ontario-where water quality and water management are central to approvals success? In this role, you'll join WSP's Mining Environmental Approvals team supporting permitting and approvals for operating and proposed metal mines. You'll work alongside specialists in hydrology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, aquatic sciences, and engineering to deliver practical, high-quality approvals solutions that meet regulatory expectations and project timelines.
Your Impact
  • Support environmental permitting and approvals for operating and proposed metal mines in Ontario, with a focus on water management and water quality components.
  • Prepare and coordinate permit and approval applications, technical reports, and environmental management and monitoring plans related to water quality.
  • Review project plans to assess potential impacts to surface water and groundwater quality, documenting compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Contribute to water quality monitoring programs, including design support, implementation support, data review, interpretation, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate technical inputs into complete approvals deliverables that meet WSP quality standards, schedules, and budgets.
  • Support engagement with clients, regulators, stakeholders, and Indigenous communities by preparing technical materials, meeting content, and follow-up documentation.
  • Track emerging regulatory trends, guidelines, and standards relevant to Ontario mining and water quality, sharing key updates with project teams.
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; a post-graduate degree is considered an asset.
  • Five or more years of related experience, ideally within a consulting environment supporting private-sector clients.
  • Demonstrated technical experience in water quality assessment, data analysis, and interpretation; experience in northern climates is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Ontario and Federal regulatory frameworks and approvals processes relevant to metal mining.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to produce clear, defensible technical documentation.
  • Highly organized and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Assets include experience with industrial processes, wastewater treatment systems, inorganic chemistry, contaminant transport or mass balance modelling, assimilation capacity studies, and hydrodynamic modelling tools such as CORMIX.
