Capital Engineering is growing and looking for an experienced Building Services Designer to join the Edmonton team. If you enjoy solving technically complex problems, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and delivering practical solutions for industrial facilities, this role offers strong technical involvement and the opportunity to contribute to projects from concept through construction. What You’ll Do Develop building services system designs for industrial facilities in accordance with applicable codes and standards Perform load calculations and support equipment selection and system sizing Prepare building services layouts, ductwork designs, equipment arrangements, and detailed drawings Produce detailed building services deliverables including plans, schematics, details, and schedules Support the design of specialized industrial systems including dust control, make-up air, exhaust, and hazardous area ventilation Assist with preparation of engineering deliverables including calculations, specifications, and technical documentation Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, and process teams to ensure integrated designs Participate in constructability reviews and provide field support during construction when required Update and maintain project drawings throughout design and construction phases What We’re Looking For 8+ years of building services design experience in industrial environments Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related technical discipline Experience designing building services systems for industrial facilities such as oil and gas, mining, oil sands, power generation, or heavy industry Strong understanding of industrial building services systems including dust control, make-up air, exhaust, hazardous areas, and redundancy systems Experience producing detailed building services drawings including layouts, plans, details, schematics, and schedules Experience with 2D and 3D design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, MicroStation, or similar tools Familiarity with Canadian codes and standards including ASHRAE, CSA, NBC, NFPA, B149, NPC, and ABSA where applicable Familiarity with industrial safety and reliability requirements Strong communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and clients Why Capital Engineering Capital Engineering is an Edmonton-based firm delivering practical engineering solutions across complex industrial projects.
