Job description

Term of App't: Monday - Friday, 8.75/hrs per week

Start date: Immediately

Reporting to: Dean Health Sciences and Human Services

Salary:

Classification 13, $13,613.74 – $14,034.79 annually in accordance with the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Vacation (29.75 hours annually) is pro-rated and front loaded. This position receives time off for family illness, personal illness, and other special leaves in addition to a closure during the Christmas Break (December 25 – January 1) which is paid time off.

Please note this position is not eligible for extended health and dental benefits; however, hours will be monitored for eligibility for enrolment in the Municipal Pension Plan.

Description:

The Health Sciences Department is seeking to hire a regular part-time Clinical Practice Placement Lead for our Fort St. John Campus. This position will act as a key resource to support student success throughout their education journey as well as provide guidance to students as they prepare for entry into clinical practicums.

The Clinical Practice Placement Lead is responsible for the successful operation and maintenance of laboratories in Northern Lights College Health Sciences to ensure an optimal learning environment for students. The Lead will act as a liaison between students, lab instructors, program chairs, support clerks, and administration.

Duties may include advising students regarding post admission requirement and student practice education core orientation completion; co-ordination of placement requests through the provincial health sciences placement network; preparing instructional material for lab and clinical placements, ensuring lab premises and equipment are clean and maintained with adequate inventory; designing and implementation lab safety procedures.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a diploma or degree in a health care profession, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and two years' experience in a student-service-related setting.

Considerable knowledge of health care regulations, provincial guidelines, local training availability, policy and procedures, and student placement networks as they pertain to course entry and program completion is required. The successful candidate will have the ability to support students with their educational planning, requirements, and other course-related questions. They will have the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.

The successful candidate will have the ability to compose letters, emails, and other material along with the ability to use sound judgement, discretion and tact while performing duties.

A valid BC Driver's License is required as some travel will be required.
