Job description

Position

Phlebotomist – Part Time

Status: Part Time

Schedule: Monday to Wednesday 8:00 am – 1:00 pm; Saturday 8:00 am – 12:00 pm (two locations). Travel required. Vehicle access needed.

Number of positions: 1

Start Date: ASAP

Union: SEIU collective agreement

Your Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and request required information, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure compliance with test protocols prior to collection.
  • Perform phlebotomies, connect and disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
  • Collect special test specimens such as medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trial samples; complete related documentation.
  • Maintain client relationships, responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
  • Enter patient demographics, requisition data, and other information related to processing test results.
  • Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
  • Good computer skills; minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
  • Strong customer/patient service skills with the ability to relate to patients and clients in stressful situations.
  • Strong empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
