Balto Capital is a fast-growing real estate investment and asset management firm focused on acquiring and operating multi-residential properties across Canada. With a rapidly expanding portfolio, we are building a lean, high-performance team to support our continued growth.
This is not a typical internship. You will gain direct exposure to how a real estate investment firm operates day-to-day, from financial analysis and deal support to operations, leasing, and asset management.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented interns to join our team for Summer 2026, with the opportunity to continue part-time or transition into a full-time role.
You will work closely with the CEO and leadership team, gaining hands-on experience across finance, operations, and real estate investing. This role is ideal for someone who wants to learn quickly, take ownership, and build a strong foundation in private equity and real estate.
What You'll Do
Your role will be tailored to your areas of interest and expertise, and may include any of the following:
1. Finance & Accounting
- Assist with cost accounting, billing, and invoice compliance
- Support bookkeeping processes using QuickBooks
- Prepare basic financial and operational reports
- Assist with payroll, taxes, and regulatory obligations
2. Investments & Asset Management
- Support financing requests, including mortgage applications and payments
- Assist with third-party vendor reviews and audits
- Contribute to legal and administrative processes for new and existing properties
3. Operations & Revenue Generation
- Coordinate with leasing agents and support tenant screening and documentation
- Assist in monitoring property performance and revenue-generating activities
- Help oversee on-site employees, renovations, and maintenance through internal tools (e.g., Connecteam)
The ideal candidate profile
We are looking for candidates who stand out for their mindset and work ethic, not just their resume.
- Currently enrolled in a university program (Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred)
- Strong interest in real estate, investing, or private equity
- High level of accountability and attention to detail
- Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Takes ownership and follows through
- Is resourceful, comfortable with ambiguity and able to work in a self-directed manner
- Wants real responsibility, not just observation
- Motivated by learning how a business actually operates
