Job Title: Forklift Operator – Night Shift

Job Description

This night-shift role focuses on safely and efficiently operating a sit-down electric forklift to load and unload trailers, organize freight in a large warehouse, and support shipping and receiving activities. You participate in a daily safety and scheduling meeting, handle high-volume trailer movements, and maintain accurate inventory records using a warehouse management system and RF scanners.

Responsibilities

• Off-load inbound trailers and move freight into designated areas within the warehouse using a sit-down electric forklift.
• Load outbound trailers with product for shipment, averaging approximately 10 loads per shift.
• Operate a sit-down electric forklift for the majority of the shift (approximately 90% of working time) in a safe and efficient manner.
• Stack pallets up to 12 feet high and 4 feet across while maintaining stability and adherence to safety standards.
• Scan products into the warehouse management system (WMS) using the A1 proprietary system to ensure accurate tracking and inventory control.
• Handle shipping and receiving documentation, including bills of lading, to support accurate recordkeeping and freight control.
• Use RF scanners to verify, track, and update product information as freight moves through the warehouse.
• Perform packing and related tasks to prepare products for shipment when required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by straightening pallets and performing other housekeeping duties.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of recent experience operating a sit-down forklift in a warehouse or similar environment.
• Proven experience loading and unloading trucks using a sit-down forklift.
• Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
• Experience working with shipping and receiving processes, including handling bills of lading.
• Proficiency using RF scanners for tracking, inventory, or shipping activities.
• Comfort working with warehouse management systems (WMS), including scanning products into inventory.
• Strong focus on safety, including adherence to safe operating procedures and warehouse rules.
• Ability to work independently on a night shift and maintain productivity with minimal supervision.
• Attention to detail when stacking pallets, scanning products, and completing documentation.
• Effective communication skills to participate in safety meetings and coordinate with team members.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Preference for candidates with third-party forklift certification.
• Experience with tracking and inventory processes in a warehouse environment.
• First Aid certification is an asset.
• Previous experience in similar warehouse environments such as beverage distribution, logistics, or large-scale warehousing.
• Familiarity with handling alcoholic beverage products is an advantage.
• Comfort working in a high-volume, fast-paced warehouse setting.
• Willingness to work on a long-term contract, with potential for extended or indefinite engagement.

Work Environment

This role is based in a newer, approximately 240,000 square foot warehouse with a night shift running Monday to Friday from 11:00 . to 7:30 . The facility operates without racking, and all products are stored on the floor, primarily consisting of beer and other alcoholic seltzers. You spend most of your time operating sit-down electric forklifts, using RF scanners, and working within a proprietary warehouse management system (A1). The environment is fast-paced yet structured, with a strong emphasis on safety and organization. The warehouse offers a stable, long-term setting with consistent night-shift scheduling, and you are expected to follow standard warehouse attire and safety gear requirements appropriate for forklift and warehouse operations.
