Job description

We are seeking an Optimization & Training Specialist to play a key role in delivering exceptional customer experiences through equipment optimization, demonstrations, and professional training.

Purpose
The Optimization & Training Specialist is responsible for enhancing customer success through expert equipment optimization, data-driven recommendations, and hands-on training. This role works closely with customers and internal teams to ensure agricultural equipment achieves peak performance, productivity, and reliability while strengthening long-term customer relationships.

Responsibilities

Equipment Optimization & Customer Support
  • Conduct in-field optimization for agricultural equipment, including tractors, air drills, sprayers, combines, forage harvesters, and haying equipment.
  • Evaluate customer needs and proactively recommend effective solutions.
  • Analyze equipment data to recommend optimal settings and performance improvements.
  • Provide on-farm and off-farm customer support, including billable optimization services.
  • Develop, sell, and deliver customized machine optimization plans.
  • Create and present optimization, demonstration, benchmarking, and competitive comparison reports.
  • Collaborate with John Deere on new product lines and limited production build (LPB) equipment.
  • Remain current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in equipment optimization.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot advanced technical and mechanical issues, including GPS, displays, telematics, application and section control, precision harvesting systems, mapping, and variable rate technologies.

Training & Demonstrations
  • Support equipment demonstrations, including preparation, coordination, transportation, and setup.
  • Assist with customer startups and demonstrations to ensure effective knowledge transfer.
  • Analyze machine data to maximize equipment utilization.
  • Build, coordinate, and deliver clinics and training sessions.
  • Provide in-house training across departments on new and existing equipment optimization best practices.

Collaboration & Team Support
  • Work closely with Sales, Service, Parts, Precision Agronomy, and other departments to support customers.
  • Assist the Sales team by providing optimization insights for new and transitioning customers.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Promote a strong, team-oriented “One Enterprise” culture.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.


Requirements

Education & Knowledge
  • Post-secondary diploma or equivalent in agriculture, mechanics, engineering technology, or a related technical field.
  • Strong understanding of agricultural equipment and precision agriculture technology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of John Deere agricultural equipment.

Experience & Technical Skills
  • Previous experience in an equipment dealership environment.
  • Strong analytical and data analysis skills.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical and mechanical issues.
  • Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related computer applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively train both customers and employees.

  • Flexible hours, including extended hours and weekends during peak seasons (seeding, spraying, and harvest).
  • Outdoor work in various weather conditions; use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including standing, lifting, and equipment handling.
