Job description
Are you a detail-oriented technical professional looking to jumpstart your career in the high-tech world of electronics manufacturing? We are currently seeking a motivated Process Technician to join a premier electronics manufacturer in Markham, Ontario. As a Process Technician, you will be at the heart of the production floor, ensuring that sophisticated Surface Mount Technology (SMT) lines operate at peak efficiency. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Process Technician who enjoys hands-on problem-solving, from setting up paste printers and pick-and-place machines to optimizing reflow ovens and conducting Automated Optical Inspections (AOI). Whether you are an experienced operator or a fresh graduate of an electrical engineering program, this Process Technician role offers a pathway into a thriving global industry.

This position is within our Manufacturing and Logistics division. At Randstad, we understand that the right fit goes beyond a list of tasks; it’s about finding an environment where your technical skills as a Process Technician are valued and developed. In this role, you will be responsible for the daily manufacturing operations, including wave soldering and PCBA testing. As a Process Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining high-quality standards and reducing machine downtime through proactive troubleshooting. This is a full-time, permanent-potential opportunity, starting as a temporary contract for the first three months to ensure a perfect match for both you and our client.

We are looking for a Process Technician who is fluent in both English and Mandarin to facilitate clear communication within our diverse international team and to support our global operational standards. Accuracy and clear communication are vital for a Process Technician when preparing daily production reports and implementing Engineering Change Orders (ECO). If you are a Process Technician with a "can-do" attitude and a passion for PCB assembly, we want to hear from you.

Shift: Flexible shift options: Day shift (8:30 am to 5:00 pm) or Afternoon shift (4:30 pm to 12:30 am).
Location: Markham, ON
Pay: $19-$21 per hour

Advantages
Joining the Manufacturing and Logistics team as a Process Technician comes with several benefits:
• Competitive pay rate of $19 - $21 per hour based on experience.
• Flexible shift options: Day shift (8:30 am to 5:00 pm) or Afternoon shift (4:30 pm to 12:30 am).
• Opportunity for permanent hire after a 3-month successful evaluation period.
• Comprehensive training for fresh graduates of Electrical Engineering programs.
• Exposure to state-of-the-art international electronics manufacturing standards.
• A supportive and inclusive team environment within a growing global company.
• Convenient location in Markham with access to local amenities.

Responsibilities
As a Process Technician in the Manufacturing and Logistics sector, your daily duties will involve:
• Setup and configuration of the SMT line, including paste printers, pick-and-place machinery, reflow ovens, and AOI systems.
• Operating the PCBA line for daily manufacturing targets while ensuring adherence to technical specifications.
• Optimizing and troubleshooting the PCBA line to maximize efficient operation and significantly reduce machine downtime.
• Performing detailed process data collection and monitoring to support Statistical Process Control (SPC) studies.
• Implementing requested engineering changes (ECO/ECN) into the production line accurately.
• Conducting first-article inspections to ensure all products meet strict customer requirements and quality standards.
• Performing daily maintenance on the PCBA line to ensure longevity and reliability of the equipment.
• Preparing comprehensive daily production reports to track output and quality metrics.
• Maintaining a clean and organized workspace by implementing and upholding 5S housekeeping principles.
• Collaborating with the engineering team to refine manufacturing processes and improve overall yield.

The successful Process Technician will demonstrate the following skills:
• Proficiency in operating SMT machines and understanding electronic components.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities to resolve mechanical or software issues on the production line.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, ECOs, and ECNs.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications for reporting and data entry.
• Strong collaborative skills to work effectively within a high-pressure manufacturing team.

• 1-2 years of hands-on experience in SMT machine operations (preferred but fresh grads encouraged).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin.
• Solid knowledge of PCB assembly processes and electronic component identification.
• Knowledge of IPC standards is considered a strong asset for this role.
