Job description

Tundra Oil & Gas is a Manitoba-based oil and gas exploration and production company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Winnipeg-based James Richardson & Sons, Limited. Tundra’s head office is in Winnipeg, with additional offices in Virden, Estevan, and Calgary. At Tundra, we believe that our people are the foundation of our success, and we are dedicated to growing our company in a sustainable and disciplined way. This philosophy has served us well since our inception in 1980. Today, Tundra is a team 400-strong, and a leader in the Manitoba and southeast Saskatchewan oil industry. We take pride in supporting the communities in which we operate and stewarding the resources we manage for today and for the future. We are committed to working together and to getting everyone home safe every day. THE OPPORTUNITY:

Tundra is excited to announce an opportunity for a Data Analyst based out of our Calgary or Winnipeg office.

The main responsibility of the Data Analyst is to turn data into clear, trusted insights that help teams across Tundra make better, faster decisions. You will design business‑critical dashboards, define meaningful KPIs, and partner closely with stakeholders to solve real‑world problems using data. This role plays a key part in strengthening Tundra’s analytics capabilities and enabling greater use of data, AI, and self‑service reporting across the organization.

REPORTS TO: Manager, Data Analytics

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards, reports, and KPIs that support business priorities and decision‑making
  • Translate complex or ambiguous business questions into structured analysis and clear, actionable insights
  • Partner closely with business teams to understand needs, clarify requirements, and deliver analytics that matter
  • Develop trusted datasets and metric definitions that enable reliable self‑service analytics
  • Coach and support business users in how to access, interpret, and use data with confidence
  • Monitor dashboard usage and performance, continuously improving analytical products based on feedback and adoption
  • Collaborate with Analytics, Data Science, and IT partners to ensure data is accurate, well‑governed, and production‑ready
  • Apply and promote best practices for analytics, documentation, and data quality
  • Leverage AI and analytical tools responsibly to improve efficiency, insight delivery, and productivity

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a similar analytical role
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large, complex datasets
  • Hands‑on experience building dashboards and reports using BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire, or similar
  • Experience defining KPIs, metrics, and datasets that are trusted and consistently used
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms (cloud data warehouses, Databricks, or similar)
  • Experience with Python or R for analysis is an asset
  • Exposure to AI‑enabled analytics tools is considered an asset

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • A curious and disciplined problem‑solver who enjoys turning questions into insights
  • A collaborative partner who can bridge technical data work and business needs
  • A clear communicator who can explain insights to both technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Someone who values accuracy, consistency, and trust in data
  • A continuous learner who adapts to new tools, technologies, and evolving business priorities

OTHER DETAILS:

  • This role is eligible for hybrid work, with a mix of in‑office and remote flexibility
  • Open to candidates based in Calgary or Winnipeg
  • Occasional travel between office locations may be required
  • Permanent, full‑time position

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • Be part of a proudly Canadian, privately owned energy company and grow your career with Manitoba’s largest oil producer
  • Enjoy competitive total rewards, including salary, annual incentive pay, long‑term incentives for eligible roles, and employer‑matched RRSP contributions
  • Comprehensive employer-paid benefits, including a $5,000 mental health benefit, Healthy Lifestyle Allowance, maternity top‑up, paid parental leave, and personal leave
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities, including training investments, leadership programs, professional designation reimbursement, engineer‑in‑training programs and company-wide learning opportunities

We recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job. If your experience is close to what you see listed here, please still consider applying. Diversity of experience and skills combined with passion is a key to innovation and excellence. Therefore, we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply for our positions.
