Project Manager - Structures
We are hiring a Project Manager – Structures with 8+ years of experience working on construction projects with a focus on structures such as bridges and rail. You will develop and execute project plans and schedules, ensuring the highest safety and quality standards are met. You have a proven track record for meetings, budgets, schedules, and scope for a demanding set of projects and clients.
Essential Responsibilities
- Review project contractual documents to gain an understanding of the project requirements (design, specifications, schedule, budget, safety, quality, and environmental requirements) necessary to complete the project within the required time frame.
- Liaise and coordinate with the designer, technical department and client in all technical aspects.
- Review and understand project design, technical reports and background information.
- Develop an execution plan that outlines construction staging and sequence, construction workplans, materials, equipment, subcontracting, and other services that are necessary to deliver the project on time and within budget.
- Provide technical assistance and recommend construction methods and equipment.
- Manage quantity take‑offs, bill of quantities, estimating and develop scope of works related to the structural and civil scope.
- Lead project activities to ensure that the project is executed in accordance with the designs, budgets and schedules; take appropriate action to minimize the impact of deviations.
- Develop and manage client relationship and expectations, progress reports, communication, paperwork, meetings, etc.
- Monitor and oversee onsite activities, quality, productivity, progress, and safety of employees and subcontractors and ensure implementation of all procedures and work plans.
- Anticipate potential roadblocks and develop solutions to prevent issues from arising; resolve any problems that may arise during project execution.
- Implement and monitor safety programs.
- Manage requests for information and issue field instructions.
- Prepare progress reports.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience working with a major contractor on large heavy‑civil and bridge projects.
- Experience with construction of new bridges (rail and road bridges).
- Experience working within railway corridors and understanding of rail corridor requirements and rail corridor work‑plan requirements.
- Experience with in‑water works including familiarity with CLOCA requirements and planning construction activities within creeks or watercourses.
- Working knowledge of MTO and Ontario municipality road construction standards and processes and knowledge of Ontario Provincial Standards and Specifications.
- Demonstrated abilities in the management and leadership of multidisciplinary project teams.
- Experience successfully planning and executing projects on schedule and within budget.
- Experience working with programs including Excel, MS Project, Word, PowerPoint and Bluebeam.
- Excellent technical, communication, organizational, managerial and planning skills.
- Excellent people and leadership skills.
Compensation
$120,000 – $140,000
