The Opportunity
Servicing our most valued clients, the Operations Supervisor supervises groups of sites within a territory, managing employees and subcontractors to ensure the scope of work is completed, providing training, liaising with the client’s Site Leadership, resolving issues or preventing escalations, and conducting inspections to assure quality. The Operations Supervisor acts as the first point of contact for the client regarding operations, escalations, and work orders. In addition, the Operations Supervisor guides and directs the employees and subcontractors (where applicable) in the completion of their daily tasks, periodic project work, and any on-demand work orders that may arise. The Operations Supervisor fields questions and concerns from the site-based cleaners ensuring they have the tools, supplies, training, and support required to deliver service excellence each and every day.
The Operational Supervisor will require flexibility in shift times and days, as interaction with the night cleaning crew, clients, and weekend site visits will be required. Frequent travel within a geographic region is required and must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving abstract.
The Role
Operations Supervisor responsibilities include resource, employee, expense, compliance and cross-functional management across multiple sites and teams.
Resource Management
- Participate in the hiring, training, and supervision of employees and subcontractors
- Conduct monthly QA inspections within the portfolio
- Manage work orders and ensure timely completion
- Follow up on deficiencies and validate completion
- Photograph any damages onsite or incidents
Employee Management
- Liaise with clients to ensure performance standards are met and complaints are addressed
- Proactively resolve concerns before escalation by the client
- Ensure all timesheets are correct for assigned sites in Dayforce every Sunday or Monday
- Set clear expectations with staff and subcontractors
Expense Management
- Ensure scheduled hours and actual hours align with budget
- Oversee or coordinate equipment repairs
- Ensure subcontractor hours are in line with budget
- Place monthly supply orders at the end of each month for all assigned sites
- Conduct supply audits to maintain adequate par levels of supplies and consumables and keep sites within budget
Compliance
- Ensure employees and subcontractors comply with requirements such as security clearances, access badges, GST, business licensing, WCB, liability insurance, etc.
- Ensure the workforce is compliant with all company, federal, provincial, and Collective Bargaining Agreement requirements (where applicable)
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate effectively with other departments including People & Culture, Service and Maintenance teams
Qualifications
- 3–4 years of people management experience
- 2 years of commercial janitorial cleaning experience
- 1–2 years of customer service experience
- Ability to identify knowledge gaps and seek training
- Ability to identify recurring issues and implement corrective actions
- Accountability to resolve matters in a timely manner
Compensation
- Salary range: $50,000 to $60,000 per annum
- Hiring location: Oshawa and Whitby
- Start date: Tentatively Sept/Oct 2026
