BILINGUAL (French & English) SOCIAL WORKER

Casual, Fixed Term Contract: Up to 16hrs/week

Location: Remote (anywhere in Canada)

Description

This position will assist in supporting persons living with lung cancer, their care partners and loved ones with emotional support and guidance in the areas of assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and navigation. Reporting to the Manager of Patient Support & Development, the LCC Social Worker will work alongside the patient support team within our Airways of Hope Program. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving and growing our Airways of Hope Program and our bilingual services at LCC.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide psychosocial assessments and service provisions by telephone or video conferencing.

• Facilitate and enhance our virtual support group offerings, including the development of a French support group for both persons living with lung cancer and care partners.

• Evaluate program participants (existing, new, and prospective) based on their needs, addressing concerns and goals.

• Relationship building, consulting, and collaborating with cancer center's across Canada.

• Maintain statistical data and reports. • Attend monthly meetings with the patient support team.

• Other duties as assigned from the Manager and Executive Director.

Essential Skills

• Understanding of lung cancer and a broad knowledge of cancer care in Canada.

• Experience with group support facilitation.

• Ability to act swiftly and appropriately in crises situations.

• Experience in counselling individuals and families with complex psychosocial needs using evidence-based interventions.

• Sound conflict management skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Working Environment & Travel

LCC seeks to execute on its mission through a highly virtual environment. In general, all roles within LCC require extensive computer usage at a secure home office. Occasional travel may be required.
