Job Description
The General Production Worker supports the assembly and testing of precision instruments in a hands-on manufacturing environment. This role follows detailed written instructions and drawings to assemble components, perform basic soldering and testing, and ensure products meet quality and safety standards. The position works closely with other production and technical team members to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Assemble parts and finished instruments by following written instructions, drawings, and established procedures.
- Perform basic soldering on components as required for assembly.
- Prepare parts for assembly by counting, organizing, labeling, and performing basic visual inspection.
- Conduct basic testing of products and components under guidance to verify proper function and performance.
- Identify, document, and report assembly or product issues to experienced technicians or supervisors in a timely manner.
- Complete basic production and test paperwork accurately and legibly to maintain proper records.
- Use hand tools, basic test equipment, and light production equipment safely and correctly after training.
- Operate and handle measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers as required for production and inspection tasks.
- Follow all safety, quality, and cleanliness standards at all times while on the production floor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper storage of tools and materials.
- Perform repetitive manufacturing tasks consistently and efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Lift, move, and position materials and products, including lifting up to 9 lbs repeatedly (up to 200 times per shift) and occasionally up to 50 lbs, using safe lifting techniques.
- Kneel, reach, bend, and stand for extended periods as required to complete production tasks.
- Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors regarding work progress, issues, and improvement ideas.
- Contribute to a culture where observations and suggestions for improvement are encouraged and shared.
Essential Skills
- 3 years of previous manufacturing experience performing repetitive tasks.
- Experience in general production, assembly, and mechanical or general labour work.
- Basic soldering skills suitable for fine assembly work.
- Manual dexterity to perform fine, detailed assembly tasks with consistency and accuracy.
- Experience using measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Ability to use hand tools, basic test equipment, and light production equipment after training.
- Capability to lift 9 lbs up to 200 times per shift and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs using safe lifting techniques.
- Ability to perform physical activities such as kneeling, reaching, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate assembly, testing, and documentation.
- Good communication skills to work effectively within a production team.
- Positive attitude and willingness to follow safety, quality, and cleanliness standards.
- Competent, reliable work habits with a focus on quality and consistency.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Similar work experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred.
- Experience using additional measuring tools such as height gauges, protractors, or ring gauges is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to follow detailed written instructions and technical drawings.
- Comfort working with power tools and mechanical equipment in a production setting.
- Strong organizational skills for counting, sorting, and preparing parts for assembly.
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to speak up about issues, improvements, or safety observations.
- Detail-oriented approach to both hands-on work and completion of production paperwork.

Work Environment
The work environment is a safe, clean, and organized manufacturing facility with both machine shop and warehouse areas, as well as a second facility dedicated to assembly production and office operations. You will work closely with a production team on the shop floor, using hand tools, basic test equipment, light production equipment, and precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers. The standard schedule is Monday to Friday from 7:00 . to 3:30 ., with occasional extended hours until 5:30 . and some weekend work depending on production needs. The role involves repetitive tasks, frequent lifting of 9 lbs up to 200 times per shift, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, along with regular kneeling, reaching, bending, and standing. The dress code includes safety-toe or sturdy footwear and appropriate workwear, with safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, dust masks, vests, and other protective equipment provided on site as required. The overall atmosphere supports a collaborative, safety-focused, and continuously improving workplace.
